A1000 keyboard damaged
A1000 keyboard damaged
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: I bought this damaged keyboard with A1000 secondhand. I was told that it has been damaged by a light bulb that someone forgot to turn off..

There are two problems because of melting:
- the keyboard cannot be opened (for cleaning, repairs..)
- the leg beneath it cannot be closed so keyboard cannot fit in its A1000 bay, and its a bit shorter than other leg so kbd is not stable

Any suggestions how to repair it would be helpful..
 :-)

It`s a pity to see such a great KB reduced to this state.

Cut the damaged part, and use some sort of molded plastic.

You should ask at a modeling miniatures store for molding techniques/how to repair models.

Then brush and paint the repaired area.

Better consult somebody who`s been doing modeling/scale figures for years and has experience to such modifications, before doing something by yourself.

Looks much more like if the guy forgot a cigarette over the keyboard.

Use this story:  It was a dark gloomy night and you were playing Alien 3 on your Amiga. When you were about to defeat the Alien some of the Alien's deadly acid squirted on your keyboard!  Hahaha

Leave it like that. It's cool looking and you have a story to tell about it. But, I guess you could fix the leg by drilling it out and putting in a rod. Otherwise, leave the cool melty hole! :flame:

Cut out the broken bits. Then cut out plastic from another Amiga keyboard, perhaps a broken A500?

Place the plastic bits where you made the cuts and apply bondo, then sand. Repeat the bondo process again untill you get a smooth finish.

Problem is it will not look that good if you dont paint it, but it would be better than this for sure.
