WPA2-enabled prism2.device performance on my 1200/060
« on: July 20, 2011, 02:17:31 AM »
Plonked down my 72 sheqels and received my WPA-enabled prism2.device.

See here.

I'm using a NetGear MA401, Miami 3.2, AmigaOS 3.9BB2 on an A1200 with Blizzard 1260 50MHz 68060, 192MB, with the 1230 SCSI module.  Upgraded the firmware in the MA401 using a Windows XP machine.  I believe I am having some problems with my hardware which has been causing me some random crashes, but once online these are my results.

Network encryption: WPA2-CCMP(AES)
Browser: A-Web 3.4SE
FDH0 is a 4GB CF card on native mobo IDE
CPU usage measured with SCSI Bench
256 color Workbench, A-Web on its own 256 color screen

Downloading 104MB file from AmiNet to,
 FDH0: 22~23kcps, 100% CPU*
 RAM: 33~37kcps, 85~100% CPU*

* I remembered while I was typing this that I was also running WBClock at the same time, which has its own minimal performance hit.

My little machine is no speed demon on WPA2, but it's a damn sight better than running my network with WEP.  And it's usable.  I'm very pleased.

Thought this might be interesting to those contemplating buying.  I blind-sided Neil with my PayPal purchase.  He will need your MAC address and system CPU information.

Nice! I wasn't aware there is WPA support for the Amga now. Shame it uses the network card as a dongle, but fair enough.
