It's very useful to have HowTos like these available, and they seem quite thorough and easy to follow.

One thing I noticed at a quick look: In the appendix with the Kicklayout example, it looks like you have several extra empty lines in your configurations. This is dangerous and can lead to the computer not booting. There should be no empty lines except one single one between separate configurations - i.e. those sections that start with a LABEL line.
