On June 11 2005 I got a mail from the the owner of Matay, the company that designed and built the prommy :
While I was cleaning up everything left on stock, I found several boards
which had been left to resend to the manufacturer due to some "mounting"
issues, i.e. altera chip being put in wrong way, lack of oscillator, etc.
Those were never used and could be refit correctly by the manufacturer on
warranty, this would possibly give around 10 units more. Although, I must
say I didn`t yet pursuit in that direction, there was no such need.
As for the price, if you`d take everything, I`d offer you 95 euro per unit
(even though the current euro exchange rate is rather low) plus shipping
cost (to Belgium, that`d be 30 euro). One important note. Some other
company, found a flaw in the firmware causing DMA to work not as expected.
The fix is almost done, and usb + rtl8139 drivers are finally working
correctly. Since we have some additional developers on the list, that would
bring several more drivers, sound and others.
Of course, there`ll be a deman for fixes for all those prommy users out
there and it`s going to be handled for free (or just shipping costs, as we
plan to set up several 'fix points' around the globe). That`ll be a second
major firmware update, so most people know how does it look like and they
accept it. Still, if you`d be a dealer, you`d have the first new and fresh
board with new drivers for sale.
That`s all I can say.
