Description: This is a typical saturday on my Os3.5 system :-) I'm using Birdie and Visual prefs for the window borders, Magic menu, KingCON and thats about it really.
I had to downscale the image to the limit specified here. That's not meant as a boast, I really do use 1600x1200...

@leirbag

It has changed a lot since this picture was taken, but yep, just leave out and snapshot. What I also did was to create a folder on the root of each partition called "desktop", and within each one there are folders for each of my bootable partitions. Within each there are different .backdrop files (the text files workbench stores the left out icon lists in).

An optional script can be executed for each one that  swaps the .backdrop file depending on which drive I booted from (or even based on some env variable for a given partition). This way my left out icons can be tailored for each different bootable partition.

As for RAM, all offscreen images are in fast ram on my setup. Since I have 256MB of fast memory and a further 8MB of video memory, I'm not too concerned :-) Some tiny bits chip ram is used here, never entirely sure for what.

@Karlos

Question..................how do you get those Drawer icons to stay on your desktop? by using Leave Out?  or some other method?  Doesnt this take away precious ChipRam?

My only excuse for this phase of my amiga use is that at least a busy workbench doesn't imply you have a folder on your amiga somewhere chock full of crud like you do with the Windows desktop :-)

Oh my god, it's full of... icons :)))

This is actually nothing, friend of mine is using his desktop like temporary folder. U can find everything there, extracted files, downloaded files, icons, docs, pics, movies, everything you can think about... Mess.

@Mikey

:lol: It's happened before, have no fear! At least it doesnt automatically snapshot, like windows, eh?

I just changed the hard disk last night and its all clean and uncluttered again. I leave a lot of stuff out because I get lazy, you see.

Got rid of that bobbins backdrop since then too :-)

@Waccoon. Well, I use a 19 inch display for that but its got a nice sharp dot pitch so it's really quite nice, rather like using 1024x768 on a decent 15 inch.

*SQUINT*

Jeez, are you using a 40" monitor, or what?

@Mikey Mike:  Windows does that automatically from time to time for no apparent reason.  That DOES make me cry!   ;-)

Looks more cluttered than it is - it's a big resolution to use. At least I don't have to overlap windows much these days :-D

-edit-

A bit freaky that you can still read the text. It was only 13pt to start with :lol:
