Did you ever get a response for this? I have a 1200 with faulty video. 
Perhaps someone at an Amiga North Thames meeting in London could repair it. Perhaps you could give in to them one month, then come back a month later and see if it's been repaired. Amigakit has also been suggested. I got a cable from them in a package sent from Wales.
