Title: Amigakit.com Question?
Post by: Claw22000 on February 20, 2009, 05:34:57 PM
I ordered some parts from Amigakit.com about a week ago, and haven't seen them yet.  The tracking info show 2 sites to track on Royle Mail and USPS on the Royle site they say

"Your item, posted on 13/02/09 with reference XXXXXXXXXX has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

and on the USPS Site they say

"Label/Receipt Number: XXXXXXXXXX
Status: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment

We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece."

Claw

Does this meen its lost at sea?
How long before I should be worrying?

The Royal Mail was fast same day it was shipped they say it was in the hands of the over seas and USPS just keeps that message from my understanding it must mean they don't have it yet or that the Customs office is having fun with my Amiga stuff!!!

Have you asked Amigakit? I'm sure they can give you more information than anybody here...

Things from AmigaKit usually get from the UK to the US relatively fast but one week is pushing it.  Between 2 to 4 weeks is not unusual.  I have sent items to the UK from here AirMail that took 2 months.  No explanation from the USPS.  It just took 2 months.  All that the tracking info online showed was that the box was mailed from here on the day I mailed it.  If I order something from AmigaKit on a Monday, I almost always have it by the Friday of the following week.

Well I called the USPS tracked the package.

Thay say...

"We have only received notice that this mail piece is about to be dispatched. you should contact the original sender to start an investigation from there end."

Basically blaming the other mail organization.

I will wait a wile longer before troubleing them since you all say it take about 2 weeks to arrive in the US.

Two weeks is about standard.  Remember that it has to go thru customs on both ends as well.  I got my copy of AOS4.1 (for PegII)yesterday and took 14 days to arrive and I live in WV.

Well I guess I just better wait for another week at least then.  I can't believe this tracking info is so shotty I would have gladly paid more to have it send UPS.  I'm down with Brown.  I order from japan sometimes and get my package 3 - 4 days later.

I want my Amiga working

Besides holdups in customs, we also had Presidents' Day on the 16th, so there's an extra day right there. On previous orders from AmigaKit. I've typically waited about a week and a half.

I've received packages from USPS, then tracked them, and they show as still in Atlanta.

My family has shipped to and from South America /Europe for years - we have family in both places - and nothing bigger than an envelope has ever arrived quicker than 2-4 weeks so be patient.  I too have order from AmigaKit recently and don't assume it will get her less than 4 weeks.

It took 2 weeks to the day.  When I got home and saw there was a notice to pick up tomorrow I got in my truck and hunted down the mail man to hand him that slip and collect my Amigoodies now.

Most packages over 2.2 lbs are sent by FedEx.  These get to East coast destinations in usually one day, rest of USA takes two days transit time.  This is because FedEx's hub is in Memphis.  They upgrade some of our East coast packages for us at no extra charge.

If we send USPS, service varies state to state.  CA bound packages take around 3-7 days to arrive. Most USA customers report to us about 7 working days for USPS to deliver the package.

I am very pleased with my purchase.  Had a little trouble with the drive.  Mostly that I can't format new 1.4 disks down to 880K but the old Externals I have will do it then it will read them so either way I'm satisfied.  I will defectively be ordering more soon.  You should consider carrying those FFD Emulators.  I bet they would sell decent enough to have an order of 20 at a time.  I'm gonna need some more goodies soon.  Not to mention one day I will probably take the leap for a tower conversion.  I just can't see myself giving up that cool nostalgic case just yet.   :-)

Again Thanks.

I also would like to say that i am amazed at awesome service done by Amiga Kit.

I ordered a massive amount of cables for all kind of Amigas.

I received no less than 4 mails, telling me each and every single step of my purchase, updating all info.

Less than 14 days later, package arrived in perfect condition to my house (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

So i can only say, AmigaKit rulez!!!

Don't worry about Amigakit. From my experience, there is nothing to worry about. It takes a while to arrive, but it will.
