Recommend people just buy it when it's released.  Loved the first Bagnall Commodore book, but after pre-ordering the "Amiga Years" once and having it go belly up once already, I'll keep my money in my fist until I know the author isn't going to flake out on it again.  The fellow is a terrific author.

Not meaning to slag the author.  I loved the first C= book and would have paid 3x what the ebook rate was, but I was also very let down to be on a pre-order list for the Amiga follow-up book and don't want to noodle around with placing a pre-order and only find the project nixxed again.  I've no doubts the author will not allow that to happen this time, and that he certainly had a very good reason for calling the Amiga book off the first time, but at the end of the day, I'll be the first guy standing there with cash in fist when the book hits the (electronic, in my case) shelves, but people do need to be aware of the fact the book was "called off" at least once in the past, with people forking over pre-order funds with great expectation for a book that got cancelled for the meantime.

The first Commodore book by Bagnall is one of the best computer history books I've read, and I've pretty much read them all.  Most computer history books are as riveting as a dry fart in a high wind, about as exciting as an instruction manual for a television, but the first book Bagnall wrote on the subject was not only extremely well written, but wholly entertaining as well.  The first book, along with Commodork: Sordid Tales from a BBS Junkie by Rob O'Hara, are two of the best computer related books I've ever read, even putting the Jobs book by Walter Isaacson to absolute shame, entertainment wise.

I expect no less of the Amiga era follow-up - I just hope it doesn't hit any further stumbling blocks before it hits shelves.  Anyways, tl;dr warning in retrospect, lol.  Looking forward to this book a great deal, just don't want to pre-order it and never see the darned thing, but I'll be the first guy on the Apple bookstore to buy it when it's out.

I'm not talking about Amazon (though the OP mentioned Amazon specifically, and I should have been more clear), and there's many other places you'll be able to pre-order it, some more of a PITA than others in regards to pre-orders.

I've had minor issues with pre-orders with the Apple store - items pre-ordered that never came (both books and music) but I couldn't either void/cancel my order, or I was billed for something that never ended up "shipping".

Mind you, I've only got interest in the ebook version of this book (or any other book, for that matter, I cannot read print books), so I may be the odd man out.
