AmiBridge 1.5 preview on Icarodesktop.org
« on: May 19, 2009, 11:04:04 AM »
AmiBridge is a script based launch system which allows Icaros Desktop's users to run AmigaOS applications directly from AROS. The current version requires the user to choose the Amiga executables with a file requester, making the "integration" a bit unnatural. But this is coming to an end: the next release of AmiBridge, which will be included in Icaros Desktop 1.1.2, will allow running AmigaOS executables straight from their icons, as shown in this video. AmiBridge will be still based on scripts, but their creation will be more natural.

Very intresting. I'm longing for your next release.
AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they\\\'d go faster. --D.Haynie

That's quite nice. I have a couple of questions:

1. Can the 68k app access the AROS filesystem?
2. Is it possible to remove the UAE window, making the application windows appear directly on the AROS desktop?
Code: [Select]
10  IT\'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
20  FOR C = 1 TO 2
30     DA-NA-NAAAA-NAAAA DA-NA-NA-NA-NAAAA
40     DA-NA-NAAAA-NAAAA DA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NAAAAA
50  NEXT C
60  NA-NA-NAAAA
70  NA-NA NA-NA-NA-NA-NAAAA NAAA-NAAAAAAAAAAA
80  GOTO 10

Excellent.  I bought an iMica system with the AmiBridge feature pre-setup. Very nice.  See my review article in the next edition of Amiga Future. I have also just installed version 1.1.1 under VMware on my PC. It also works very well although sound and USB are not supported in this configuration.

One major problem for me is the dual mouse pointer when running AmigaOS applications. Hopefully this will be rectified in the near future?  Keep up the good work.

Both of those are part of the 68k emulator integration into AROS :)

First message on the "New A.org" format. Keep up the great work Wayne.

@thaddaeus,

I would not try to run AROS on your PowerBook through an emulated Windows environment.  I used to do that on my 1GHz G4 PowerBook with WinUAE and though it worked, it was slow and jerky at times.

I think there is (was) a PPC Mac version of AROS, or you could run the PPC version of EUAE to run old 68k Amiga applications if you can get it set up correctly.

Also, save that working G4 PowerBook and keep an eye on the work to port MorphOS to the PPC G4 MacMini, as it has been suggested that some of the team of developers working on that project have also gotten the early beta versions of that work to also boot on their own PPC G4 PowerBook and that there is a good chance that shortly after MorphOS3.0 for the MacMini is released, there will be another release (MOS3.1, 3.2???) for owners of G4 PowerBooks.  I certainly hope so, because I own one that is broken and will have it repaired as soon as it can run MorphOS3.x.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Good stuff!
Is it possible to set games to seamlessly launch to full-screen?
