SDK Browser v2.0.0.100 released to registered owners
« on: December 09, 2016, 05:21:22 AM »
Hello Everyone,

I am pleased to announce that the first new release of the SDK Browser for AmigaOS4 in 10 years, is now available for immediate download by all registered owners.

UPDATE: SDK Browser v2.0.0.115 has now been released to registered owners.

This version contains a couple of minor bug fixes and a few new features.
It is also likely to be the last private update before being release as v2.1.0.0
to the general public (sometime before Christmas).

Once released, first time customers will be able to purchase v2.1.0.0 for
$24.95 (US Dollars), and will receive free updates through v3.0.0.0.

Existing owners will receive v2.1.0.0 as a free update, but will also have
the option to upgrade to stay current and receive free updates through
v3.0.0.0 as well. The upgrade cost is discounted to $14.95 (US Dollars).

I am still missing current contact information for several registered owners,
so if you have registered the SDK Browser (or purchased the AVD Suite
at the PRE-SALE rate in the past), and you have not already received update
emails from me, please contact me at jamie@bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com to
update your contact information and ensure that you get your software.

Thanks!

Version 2.0.0.100 is a Release Candidate for the upcoming SDK Browser v2.1.0.0, which is intended to go public before Christmas this year.

This new version contains several important updates over the last public release (v1.6.0.0). One of the most significant updates is the move to using newer style AmigaDOS API calls for all file scanning and directory browsing functions, which now means that the SDK Browser fully supports 64-BIT filesystems and hence very large drives.

Here is a brief overview of new features found in v2:
  • Updated and built for the latest AmigaOS4 SDK
  • Tested under AmigaOS4.1 FE [Update 1]
  • Support for 64-BIT Filesystems
  • New (STRUCT)ure browsing
  • User settable Fonts and displayed Tab lengths
  • Dynamic target screen selector
  • Mouse Wheel Variable Acceleration Mode
  • Enhanced user preference settings
  • New "Find Files (in dir)"
  • New "Search (in Search Results)"
  • New "Open in File Browser"
  • New "Open in Workbench window..."

For more information, visit www.bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com.

** SPECIAL NOTE to all registered owners of either the SDK Browser or the AVD Suite: If you have not already received a direct email about this release, please contact me at: jamie@bitbybitsoftwaregroup.com to update your contact information. Thanks.

I hope so too. I have just gotten past a four-year-long contract to produce
energy reporting software for big corporations, and I have finally reached a
point where I have the time again to do AmigaOS software development.

In all the products listed in your website is the SDK browser the only one in production state?
Glad that you can code again for the Amiga since your all products line look promising.

No, due to the integrated nature of the AVD Suite, several pieces all being pushed forward
at the same time. The SDK Browser, being the one that started it all, was already in a
mature enough state to be ready for release.

Currently, once I finish the roll-out of the SDK Browser v2.1.0.0, the main focus moves to
the GUI Builder, which will be the next product that has both a "stand-alone" and "bundled"
release.

(There will also be an updated version of the AVD Template example program coming out
shortly; as the GUI Builder generates its graphical interface code for use in baseline code
 like the AVD Template source)

Thanks Jamie,
I just downloaded it.
There's a bug I guess but it may be in the autodoc and not in your software.
Libraries>Xena>choose either AlloRsource or FeeResource the autodoc can't be find while it exist. (xenares.doc)
it's maybe due to the autodoc header which contain duplicated entries and is not well formatted for or one of those entry.
http://wiki.amigaos.net/amiga/autodocs/xenares.doc.txt

Is syntax highlighting in the browser something in your to do list?

Hi Kamelito,

Thanks for trying the software, and pointing this one out.
The actual "problem" is that the AutoDoc itself was not
named to follow the interface definition.

So, while the SDK:Include/interfaces/xena.xml file gives a
library name of "xena", the actual AutoDoc found in
SDK: Documentation/AutoDocs/ is called "xenares.doc";
so the SDK Browser does not find it.

There are a couple of "non-standard" naming issues within
the SDK's Autodocs, and for those I have some exception
code it the SDK Browser to handle finding them. I will release
an update which knows to look for "xenares.doc", in addition
to "xena.doc" for this one.

The immediate work-around for this one of course, is to simply
copy (or rename) the AutoDoc itself, so that you have the expected
"SDK: Documentation/AutoDocs/xena.doc" file in your AutoDocs
path.

I did this by myself as a test, by first switching to the "AutoDocs"
list in the SDK Browser, clicking on the "xenares.doc" file to read
it, selected "File -> Open in New Shell...", which takes you right
to the SDK: Documentation/AutoDocs/ path, and typed
"copy xenares.doc to xena.doc". Then I went back to the
"Libraries" list in the SDK Browser, typed "x" to quick jump right
to "+ xena [IXena]" in the Libraries list, and it immediately loaded
the AutoDoc file to match it.

The fact that the AutoDocs files do/did not always match the "expected"
name of the file (as per the XML description), is exactly why I originally
added the direct listing of the AutoDocs files within the SDK Browser
in the first place. It is important to have those raw files directly available
to you, so that you can find odd ones like this, and find "AutoDoc"
files for things that do not have a corresponding XML interface file.

Most definitely. This one will take more work since I will most likely
have to replace the use of the standard "texteditor.gadget" for
the main text display with something else I have more control of,
like my own custom BOOPSI gadget class.

Currently the plan is to make that happen by the v3 release.

@Kamelito, @ALL,

I have released a maintenance update to the SDK Browser v2.1.1.0,
which addresses the issue pointed out by "Kamelito" where the AutoDoc
file for "xenares.doc" was not being found due to not being named to
match its Interface file.

The SDK Browser v2.1.1.0 will now correctly find and load this one
for you, so it is no longer necessary to rename the file so it can be
found by the SDK Browser.

Works fine here thanks Jamie.
I probably am the only one without Ibrowse installed... if I hit visit AVD homepage or send file to browser it didn't find IBrowse and so displayed an error.
I don't know if AmigaOS 4 have something like default browser installed but if not that would be nice to add a settings for the default browser.

Hi Kamelito,

It already has one. Just check the Tooltypes on the
SDK Browser icon, and you should see examples for
setting the EDITOR, MULTIVIEW, WEBBROWSER, PDFVIEWER,
and UNARC tools. Just set the WEBBROWSER Tooltype
to whatever browser you are using.
