Prophet64 back in stock
« on: September 26, 2006, 07:11:14 AM »
The Prophet64 carts are back in stock on www.prophet64.com . You can also order SID2SIDs, which let you use two SID chips in your C64 to get more channels.

Hey moto,
You left a "." in the linky :-)

Didn't know you were a C64 fan too.
Did you prefer the vic-20 style case, or amiga-wedge style case?
Mac Mini G4 (1.5GHz, 64MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.6
Powerbook 5.8 (15", 1.67GHz, 128MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.8.

Windows-free since 2011-2014 (Damn you Netflix!)

I didn't create it as a link actually, it did that automatically. Including the trailing "." must be a bug in the forum.

I had a C64 for a while about 5 years ago. It was a C64-C (wedge) with a 1541 drive. I rememver buying the 1541 because the postage cost me more than the cost of the drive itself :lol:

That C64 is long dead. I always wanted to use the SID for making music as I love those old sounds, but I found it so confusing. When I read about the Prophet64 I immediately headed to eBay and found a mint C64-C in its packaging :-) I ordered my Prophet64 this morning.

I actually prefer the older style "breadbox" C64, but couldn't find one anywhere. Also, the C64-C aparrently is more likely to contain the 8580 SID, which I have been told is better for the 303 bassline synth in Prophet64.

@spihunter
AFAIK the C128 uses the same SID chip as the C64, so the Prophet64 should work ok. You may want to confirm with the P64 developers though. I have ordered a P64 card and a SID2SID, and I received order confirmation, so they are taking orders.

C64, the last truely fun computer before the days of the OS.

Have you guys seen this sound module for the PC based on SID?

HardSid

I've heard it used to make some really nice techno music.

The breadbox C64 and the C128 has the 6581 SID chips.

The C64 c and the C128D computeres has the newer SID revision chips.

For the most part, if you dont listen to alot of SID musics, then you probably cant tell the difference.  :-)

I can tell the difference in musics when its played on the old SID versus the newer SID.  :-D Heck, im only 20yrs old, but C64 was the machine I grew up on.  :-)

Sweet!! I just picked up a 64HDD, got it in the mail yesterday. Looks very nice! Can't wait to set it up.

Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Yes I have seen the HardSID. I don't have a PC to put one in, and don't want one :-) I love the thought of using an 8-bit computer and getting it all in sync with my MacBook running Reason :-)

@motorollin,

Well my C128D has an 8580 Sid in it. If I can ever get it working right I will be in business :madashell: .

Know of any good Commodore retro forums I can start asking questions on about fixing my 128?.

I'm also going to get a second hand C64 off ebay for the Prophet 64. I guess I better buy one now before they sell out again?

Is it me or does it seem like the Commdore 64 has more hardware support than the Amiga?

I have a couple of MIDI interfaces for the 64.  One is a Dr. T.  Off the top of your head, can I make these two carts work together easily?  I'm not against having to hack sometime if necessary.  I've been wanting to build a sequencing rig for a while, originally intended on using my Amiga with Bars and Pipes Pro.
