I`ve had a 1.6 NetBSD installation with A4000 & CV-3D, no problems there regarding the console, I just had to edit a bit the screen modes for the X server.
Now regarding the 6.0, there seems to be a problem with Voodoo 3 in Prometheus (not supported yet), shouldn`t be your case. Anyhow, try to install the
daily binary build of NetBSD/amiga .
