Hi

I my old 1200 Tower it has a Typhoon 1230 with SCSI. IDEfix see my Scsi CD-ROM and tape drive, but shows them as ematscsi.device (CacheCDFS sees the drive but not much info)

I don't have this device in my DEVs drawer and cant find a download of it, or on my original install disk for my accelerator. After googling and searching Aminet, I have had no luck, anyone know of it (or another solution)?

Thanks

Hi Barry,

I found the manual here https://retro-commodore.eu/files/downloads/amigamanuals-xiik.net/Hardware/Taifun%201230%20SCSI%20-%20Manual-ENG.pdf (sorry if you already have this). It says on page 15 that the ematscsi.device is in ROM and compatible with scsi.device, so it won't have it's own file on disk.

Are your devices working?

Hi

I found that, and I have set my Tool types as below, but IDEFIX will find the device and OS says its mounted but when I put in a CD I doesn't spin up or read anything (Just want to check its not software before I blame the CD-Rom, The old SCSI tape backup works ok on the chain).

ACTIVATE = 1
DEVICE = ematscsi.device
UNIt = 4

Thanks

It sounds it might be the drive (or the power to it). I've never used SCSI so making an assumption that they are similar to IDE drives in that they will spin up when a disk is inserted, even if not connected to the data bus.

Hi

That's what I was thinking, could be an issue with the drive, and looking at the price of SCSI drives I think I will just stick with having a "only" an  IDE drive!  ;D
