Since most mice come with a scroll wheel these days would it be possible to add support for using the wheel?
-
Try this thirdparty tool:
http://aminet.net/package/util/mouse/FreeWheel

I tried Newmouse and another driver with no results. I’ll give it a shot but I really think it’s time to add support via the OS.
-
But then we probably need two extra disk every year just for the extra drivers.....

Are we talking usb mice or 9 pin mice (circa 1994)
if the old stuff, talk to the 3.1.4 people
if usb for NG, it's included in the usb stack already!

It’s for 9 pin mice and the 1200/4000 machines. I used the software listed above to get my AEon USB mouse working. Not sure what protocol my AmigaKit mouse uses....

what usb hardware are you using?
-
For the amigakit one you have to download the driver for it and install the Freewheel package off of Aminet.

I’m using Rapid Road with my Ethernet card. I contacted AmigaKit and they fixed the download link so that should get their mouse working too.

AmigaOS 3.2 now supports wheel mice directly if you have compatible hardware.
