Title: Home site looks different
Post by: TribbleSmasher on October 08, 2022, 04:30:43 PM
what happened during the long maintenance outtake to home?
there was a list of topics on top, where did it go?

Link at top that says Recent posts.

As to what happened, I spent nearly every night, making sure everything got transfered perfectly and nothing important (posts, data, avatars, etc etc) were not lost.
Forums needed updating, however it broke, every time. So I had to manually do alot of it, which isnt a simple 2 min job.

Looks a lot like EAB now, it needs a " today's " post button like they have too, as to see where all the talk is...

As a reminder, this is how it used to look before.

i could easily see the new posts and which topic.

the new recent thingy that looks like a blog is useless, tbh.

Yes, that's how it should look.

Hi all!

Glad to see that the site is evolving (and maintained!) but I agree with others, the URL above should be the main page  :)

Cheers!

Took a little navigating to see where things were.  But found 'Today's Posts' up the top.  Looks more the same than not, to me.  Good to see Amiga Org is still being maintained and upgraded.

Confused, you do realise that link is just for one board and nothing else.

To add to the negative appearance you must be logged to see " Recent Topics ", to much of a drastic change. Won't be here very often now.

lol,

I will be looking at things mentioned, if your not prepared to wait, so be it.
Seems to be a few users dictate and things are changed to suit them.

I'll put it back temp. However it will be changing.

IMHO, we should not need to login to view "Recent Topics".  Otherwise, the website looks ok to me.

Of course, we must login to post.

Thanks for maintaining Amiga.org

I'm only able to work on it in my spare time.
Yes, I agree. However someone says "I'm not coming here, because one thing was changed" is crazy.

Thanks Follett for your work on upgrading the forums. It's clearly not been an easy task.

Thanks Follett for your work on upgrading the forums. It's clearly not been an easy task.

Still lots to do, plan to finish what I started 4 years ago. I think manually converting gallery took it out of me last time.
Although, moving server was more of a challenge do due to size of DB, it used to be over 1GB, as some genius decided to upload all gallery images to it.
After 4 or 5 atempts (DB kept breaking), wouldn't settle until it all moved across perfectly.

I currently spent most of the day working on GFX, I never finished 4 years ago.

@F0LLETT
why are some posts shaded?

@TribbleSmasher

Looks like the last post on page 1 is repeated, but ghosted on the top of page 2 etc., for context I guess.

Best regards,

Niels
