Well, I'll concentrate on listing those "unmentioned" ones...

-Metal Slug series (SNK)
The gameplay is nice, graphics (especially animation) is unbelieveably good and the end of level bosses... They're simply so much over the top :-)

-Garou - Mark of the Wolves (SNK)
The best fighter game ever (What can you expect from SNK anyway?)
My personal record is 506500 points (Completed with one credit)

-Magical Drop 3
A game bit like Puzzle Bobble with 2 players, of course...

-Thunderblade
Still the ONLY arcade game, I've ever completed (NOT under emulation)

-Gyruss
Always liked that game on C64. And then when I finally found the arcade version, it was out-of-order! :-)

-Nemesis/Gradius series
Those games much defined how side scrolling shooters would be for the next decade...

-Up'n'Down
Played it a lot on C64 ages ago, later found out it was originally arcade game. Liked the red car on C64 more, though...

Because, actually, there HAS been a CD released in Japan, featuring the OutRun tracks!

Also, the C64 version of Outrun came with cassette with original arcade soundtrack on it!

You can find some mp3's of outrun musics at www.outrun.org

Of course, nothing beats the original version of Hard Drivin'. I can't believe what crap the Amiga/PC conversions were!

I guess you didn't try it on C64 then? :-D
