AROS Vision ECS in preparation
« on: May 15, 2015, 09:46:16 AM »
I am right now preparing a lightweight 68k distributíon that also needs less colour depth called "Aros Vision ECS".

Additionally I will prepare a developer distro based on this that includes additionally all developer related parts.

Aros Vision ECS right now:

based on Wanderer
different icon set
WHDLoad
Stormmesa/Wazp
based on nightly
no additional patches and similar who might affect compatibility

at the moment I have uploaded a test version so who is interested to test it should send me a PM

Description from Wawa regarding Aros 68k on real hardware:
http://www.amigaforum.de/index.php?topic=44.msg223#msg223

would be interesting to me if it works because I cannot test it myself

It is about 80 MB packed and about 180 MB unpacked right now (might still change a little in future)

Another thing is what should be included additional to some basic software?

I am really interested in these versions. Don't stop making them because there is not much interest at the moment. People will want these soon.
I would rather install AROS, but I don't have AGA machine.

the version in question is currntly meant for amigas without rtg. the workbench opens in highres interlace the theme is four color. so it should work on ecs.
there is a lot aros gui that would hardly fit in a noninterlace screen and i always found such a low resolution impracticable for proper workbench work. i try to make it flicker less by extensive use of doubled lines, i hope it will be acceptable. currently it seems that there is a matter of luck if black pen gets allocated properly on aros, so the theme may or may not look wrong on occasion. if it looks "ghosted" without black outlines, its wrong.

the next step is to try to substitute wanderer with scalos for better interaction.
then we can think of iff icons, look for remaining blitter bugs, there seem to be some, maybe toni will help again. and improve blitting where aros still seems to blit pixels one by one.
