Are OS3.9 system sound files in mono?
« on: November 28, 2009, 07:27:36 PM »
Today I installed OS3.9 for the first time and noticed that sound was coming out only out of 1 speaker, so I thought uh-oh, the CAPS are up.

Then I played one of the MP3s that came with OS3.9 CD and music came out of both speakers... So, question is, are the beeps and blips that are installed by OS3.9 mono, or something is really wrong with my A4000T motherboard?

Thanks!

They probably are mono. I'm not even sure the stock sound.datatype in 3.9 has support for stereo output. I might be wrong about that, but I usually ditched in favour of the AHI compatible one which did.

I guess they are in mono but you can easily check it. Load the sound file into any sound editor and you will see whether the files are mono or stereo.
