Title: Ownership of ADFs and ROMS -
Post by: AmigaFreak on May 02, 2008, 02:50:14 AM
Guys,

I have a question regarding ROMS and Amiga Disk Files.

My Workbench 1.3 diskette (original) corrupted years ago. I throughly tried disk repairs and was unsuccessful. I threw the disk out shortly there after.

I also had Kickstart 1.3 and the KS 1.3 ROM off my A500.

Am I able to download the roms legally since I had owned them physically several times?

As far as I know, it is still property by Amiga Inc.

Fair use, you are allowed copies of media you legally own.

I wouldn't worry about it. Now if you sell 60 modded xbox's and load them with 5 gigs of Amiga games and software, you're cruisin' for a bruisn'. There was a huge raid a couple of years ago by the US government on folks that did that sort of thing.

That was probably because the X-Box's were chipped, and had little to do with the Amiga software on the HD.

No, there is nothing illegal about chipping an X-Box.  It was in fact the copyright violations that caused the raids.  Specifically, the X-Box software that was loaded on the drives.
