New User Introductions / Re: Hi, I think my mid life crisis has started

@moley147
Do you know about the various user group meeting within a reasonable distance of Cumbria?

I haven’t a clue mate. If you could point me in the right direction then I’d appreciate it. At the moment I am still trying to get my amiga setup up tweaked correctly. My 40MB HD GVP for my 500 sounds like it’s chewing rocks so I bought ZuluSCSI to replace it before it completely fails. Plus I still want to back it up in just in case my backups aren’t fully up to date.

I also found some old amiga disks which I backed up to PC and some old PC HD’s with some of my Amiga stuff on it.

I also found some old PC source code that I was messing around with in the 90s doing hardware scrolling in asm (pre win95) by addressing the VGA hardware directly. I did have a nice 1 byte per pixel 320x256 in 256 colours (not 320x200) hardware scroll. Modern PC’s wont touch it so I googled and just found out about DOSBOX but I have never used it but it might allow me to run it. Plus I also found my original source code to the menu system for the VooDoo compilation games and apps CDs that I wrote in the early 90s when I was asked if I could write a reusable menu. I can’t remember how many VooDoo CDs use my menu but a few certainly do because I remember the graphics while I was writing and tweaking the menu system. I was never really part of the scene BITD, I just knew a few people that knew some other people that were into that scene. I think I wrote parts of it in quick basic and other bits in assembler. All I really remember is that it used pkunzip. I’d have to look at the code to see how I did it. 30+ years and my memory isn’t what it used to be.

User vintagewatches.pk got yelled at for his YouTube video postings by AndyFC, but Marcio D. is allowed to keep posting his non Amiga links? Creator of such has already made it clear that he is not going to produce this game for the Amiga. Not only that, he managed to make some negative comments about the Amiga in the process. Lovely, not the same rules for everyone!

This forum section is "Other Operating Systems" - i.e. other (non-Amiga-related) operating systems.

But if you really want to see an Amiga version, perhaps something can be arranged.

To keep the Amiga spirit alive, me, I am working on an Amiga game that will run on a stock A500. Stay tuned, I will probably post on a fresh thread if that is allowed.

There is an internal hardware and software development roadmap.  However we cannot publish it in public.  We do not want to spoil the surprises!

Expect the next software project to be available for AmiBench in June.  This is in development at the moment and will hopefully appeal to those that want to use AmiBench for even more productive tasks.

The A1200NG plug in accelerator is in development and progressing.

No idea, but it'd be fun to speculate.

More Amibench improvements and odds and sods of software? ARM based programming, music, office, web etc software?

Personally I'm hoping for Amiga mouse support on the DE9, an updated Amiberry, faster emulation and maybe something like a wireless mouse and keyboard to go with it.

Long term, it would be game changing to have something like AmigaLive, and play online against/with other users.

Can you confirm that you are the latest update available? And let me know the version number you have installed? A fix for rare race condition was included in that last update, and whilst it took some hours to crash on mine, and other testers systems, it's not impossible that it could crash faster on other machines.

Maintaining an ARM-based Amiga successor as a viable platform requires moving beyond being a "fast emulator" and becoming a sustainable modern ecosystem. Is there a roadmap that focuses on hardware standardization, modern development tools, and bridging the gap between classic multitasking and modern security.

Where is the platform going in 2026? 27?

Issues like this is where having either shell or remote access to the underlying Linux file system would be beneficial.

/home/a600gs/.local/share/scummvm/saves

At the moment there is no way to copy that location to another USB key or transfer it to another computer. Even having /home/a600gs/ accessible via FTP would be handy.

Same issue here Amibench quits on loading, other OS installs work fine. Performed all troubleshooting resets recommended in this thread without success.
