Dear all
It's taken years to finally get my graphic tablet working under UAE so I can use Dpaint. All I can say is thank u Toni at UAE for being so helpful. It's so good to see it working and to be able to use Dpaint with a PC graphics tablet.
For newbies like me it's daunting when something small get's in the way....as people assume you know what you're doing.
I was running workbench off a floppy, instead of installing to hard drive - so newbies - beware lol!
So here's the steps I took to get any old bog standard windows graphics tablet working:
1) Download the latest UAE (
http://www.winuae.net/) - you want the latest version 1.2
2) If you haven't done so already , you need to install Workbench to a hard drive - you can't just run workbench off a floppy (ADF) - it needs to be installed. There's plenty of info on the web how to do this - it's very easy.
3) Copy the program 'mousehack' from the WinUAE/Programs folder into your Amiga 'C' folder ( which was initially set up when you installed Workbench 3.1 to hard drive ).
4) Reboot Uae. Go to your 'System' directory and Open 'CLI' (Shell). Now type this in the Shell Window
run c:mousehack
nil:
If all is well that program 'mousehack' will run ok (you'll see a command successful message).
5) Press F12 to take you to the WinUAE screen. Now to go the window ' Game and Ports'. Under Mouse, select 'Mousehack' as an option from the drop down menu under ' mouse'.
Apparently this mousehack thing will be built into WinUAE in the next release. Now get drawing people ! Expect some good pics from me very soon!
