Title: The A1G3-SE is now ready
Post by: System on March 19, 2002, 02:18:39 PM
While pretty much the same report as posted on the 15th of March, Eyetech has renamed the AmigaOnepoint5 to AmigaOneG3-SE.  While a bit long-winded, it sounds like a good change which will help them seperate future boards.

Read the full Release (http://www.eyetech.co.uk/amigaone/150302update.php)

Editor's note: I wonder what the SE stands for, soldered edition, special edition, etc

It is produced right now. There will be no hardware changes between the so-called developers' boards and the ones they'll sell with AOS4. The BIOS ROM might be changed, but that's socketed and easily replaced.

I suppose Eyetech are touting it being socketed because if you buy the so-called developer board, you'll just pop in the ROM delivered with AmigaOS 4 when that arrives. I doubt they'll distribute BIOS image files, that would defeat their OS4 anti piracy scheme (which, of course, will be in vain anyway).

eyetech should see if they can get corps like Gatway and IBM to build computers with there A1SE bords.  As far as M$ gos, they can program a Windows XP emulator for AmigaDE.

They could always claim that it is running .NET  :-D

Naah...
Eyetech should make sure that some marketing should be directed to the PPC-linux market aswell. That would be one way to sell more boards... :-)
