Title: Amiga Cache of Minnesota!!! Raymond Computer is Liquidating. Cont.
Post by: Claw22000 on March 17, 2011, 08:57:12 PM
I was trying to get people helped over at Amibay.com but the mods think I was silent bidding.  Let me make this clear before I even start here. I am only a cataloger.  I do get paid for my work HOWEVER I do not set prices or even list the items.  I can get items listed faster but the all will be on EBAY.com and will have the prices set by the shop owner.  There all BUY NOW.  Requests will be processed in the order they are recieved on here.

I'm starting from scratch since the AMIBAY.com people somehow think I was cheating.

I will post video of the books and some of the software availible so if theres something some one wants let me know I'll get it cataloged next saturday.  It seems like we will be doing this every saturday till the end of time.  :D  But its fund seeing this C64s and Amigas powerup.

Thanks to all the people that take the time to read my rants as well as taking intrest in the goodies.

The head of the site contacted me today (ON HERE) and let me know things were handled a little wrong with this situation.  I was invited back there.  I didn't inform him that I already moved here and Wasn't going to start over again there.  1 move 2 starts is enough for me.  I did ask him to post a link to here for all his Amigians to get there fixxes.  I don't have access to post there right now.  Hope he decides to help those people get there Amigoodies.

So it turns out there not as bad after all.  I hope in the future there Mods will take more care to not just jump the gun on things like this.  The community has always had trouble with people being so harsh to eachother.  I not one to just say can't we all get along but we can at least be civil.

Expressing interest in that CD32 package if the price is right. Lay it on me Claw... how low can he go?

...btw: what's up with that I/O blix serial port card at $210?? Methinks there's an extra digit in there. Take your pick: either the '2', the '1' or the '0'.  lmao

@Claw2200,

I don't see any new items added to the eBay auctions/buy-it-now sales for this seller today than there was from several days ago.  Is the shop owner taking this stuff to an eBay re-seller to have the auctions/buy-it-now sales set up on eBay?  When do you expect more sales/auctions to be shown on eBay for these Amiga & Commodore items?

Also, can you encourage the shop owner to change from "Buy-it-Now" only sales to Buy-it-Now with the option of making an offer too on all of this Amiga & Commodore items.  His pricing is very high and he might end up with many auctions/sales that go to the end with no bids or sales, but if he adds the option of getting offers, he will get an idea of what the current realistic prices for these items really are.

I am looking forward to seeing the auctions/sales for his Amiga books, but not if his prices are going to be so outrageous.  If he really needs to sell some of this stuff to avoid moving it again to another location, he had better set the prices at more reasonable levels.  Or did I misunderstand the reason for this liquidation and he is not moving to another location?  When is this move supposed to be happening?  With that much stuff to put up on eBay, it could take a year or more to sort it all and put it up for sale/auction.

I still have to catalog the items.  I spent 12 hours just peicing togather systems.  Was the whole of my saturday.  I will be Cataloging them tomorrow and then droping them off at the seller.  He should have stuff up tomorrow or tuesday.

I did ask the owner about this option and he said we can lower prices later in the buyit now with out having to pay to relist.  BELIEVE ME I TRIED!  lol.  Somthings he will not sell untill he gets the price he wants.  He plans on keeping somethings.

We are projecting a year or more for the entire listing to happen.  We have a deal with the seller to store things there untill either sold or returned to Raymond.  If returned he will be in his new location.  The store is not closeing just liquidating ALOT of his stuff.

I don't have control over the pricing and I know the one I found and am listing is NEW In a box with an SX-1 and FMV.  The total package will be $400

However I did see a few more boxes of CD32's and I know the used ones will sell around $70.  These are all prices set by raymond.  The CD32's I know he likes and most likey won't budge on price.  Pretty sure he'll keepem first.

Thanks for the reply and answers.  Is the store still open for people to show up and buy things in person from Raymond (or was it ever open to walk-in traffic)?

It is too far for me to travel there and make it worth the travel expenses, but there might be others that are a lot closer that would like to visit that treasure house of Amiga & Commodore gear, software & books.

Just for reference, I bought a brand new CD32 on eBay about 18 to 24 months ago for $49.00 plus shipping.  That estimated price of $400 is ridiculous!  How does he expect to sell anything at those prices?  There seems to be no use in getting my hopes up that I will find anything worth buying from his eBay sales, if he is going to price everything like that, and the other eBay sales he already has listed.  He must be giving the eBay seller too much commission for handling the sales for him.

Too bad, I was hoping to fill in a few holes in my Amiga book collection and possibly find a few software titles that I would like to have.

If there are any A1000 keyboards, and shipping overseas is possible, I'd be interested. Even non-functional ones could be useful, I have one myself that needs a few spare parts (key switches).

The new ones from China were always just over $100 with shipping, but they didn't include an SX-1 ($100-$200?) or an FMV module ($250+?)  I think $400 is fair.

$70 or so for a used CD32 is also quite fair, especially considering new ones don't seem to be available anymore.

In the video hes talking about throwing away the software.  What you see there is BOXes and boxes of UNOPENED C64 software.  He has cases left over from when he ran his retail location.  Thats why were packageing it with the C64s.

Walkins are welcome still send a PM and we can work out a time. It is a warehouse and we all have other jobs/families to deal with as well so Its by appointment only.  Saturdays works best.

Not all his pricing is ridiculous.  Some is like I stated before I don't have control over it.  If your not interested in an item because of its price wait and see if it drops.  Thats all I really can suggest.  As for the commision I don't have any of that information but you can always request that from the seller on ebay.

I do know the books and sofware isn't something hes looking to make alot of money one except for a FEW Items that are very rare from what I understand.  Books are going to be sold fairly cheap and I do know he wishs to keep 1 copy of each  one for his own collection.  He calls those shop copies.  And from what I'm aware of there not shown in the video.

I did ahve a fairly bad experence with 1 of their mod.  However the head of the forums seems like he was more interested in helping the Amigoodies get to good homes.  I will choose not to judge the whole site baised on the actions of a few bad patrions.  Don't worry this forum is the home for all these goodies and questions and I'm sure if Amiga.org didn't want me serveing you I would have been asked to stop already.  I've always like Amiga.org the best with VERY Close second choice EAB.

Thanks for the support its nice to see I'm not a singled out instance.

I'm glade you mentioned that.  The majority of Amigas are 1000's.  I did talk to Raymond on saturday about overseas dealings.  He said if we get cash upfront for item and shipping that we would have to work these deals "NOT" on ebay.  He had some problems with this in the past and dosn't want to have a reaccurance.  If your still interested let me know asap as we are starting an Off Ebay request sheet for people that are looking to get things overseas.  If you see something you want on ebay let us know and we might have more.

You have my attention too. I noticed a quick shot of cartridge that looked like C-64 type. Got any Final Cartridge III's hiding in there?
I would also be interested in a GVP A500 II hard drive for my old A1000. I don't car if there's any drive in it, or RAM (I can supply that).

Those Final Cartridge IIIs are forever on eBay most of the time they go for around the 20 quid mark including postage... :)

Final Cartridge III C64 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140520759092&ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT#ht_500wt_1156)

Remember I am in North America, so I get a different flavor of eBay. I would pay the UK price without flinching, but when you add in the shipping they usually want - it's just too much.
I too, have had trouble with Amibay. I couldn't log in, then someone helped me (greatly appreciated) from the site - but now it no longer works. Oh well....

If your overseas and want an item I can see about avoiding ebay.  There is so much stuff to go through I just catalog it and then drop it off right away so I would n't be able to list it sooner than the ebay seller.  I will try to find things people are looking for and avoid ebay if there overseas.

sorry we don't have a better approach to the overseas thing.  I was barely able to talk him in to the idea.  It was that I pointed out he has a few systems that are made for overseas power that made him change his mind.

I will talk with him more on saturday when I see him and see if we can hash out a more sound plan but I have to go with things as they are for now as I don't have control over any decisions Raymond wants.

$50 C64's and 1541's?

Last 1541 he sold went for $10 and that's exactly what they're worth. WTF is going on here? Guy doesn't seem to me like he really wants to sell much of anything. Have him hold on to this stuff for another 40 years. By then, *maybe*, just maybe some of this stuff will be worth as much. Probably not though.

Broken C64's for more than working runs usually go for? My God man... lol

$200 A500?

The price on that A3000 is respectable however. $250 seems pretty fair for an awesome boxed example, albeit really high for a starting price. Last A4000 sold that had its capacitors fixed went for $250 here.

G.L.L.B.!   (good luck little buddy!)

I dont know where you get your pricing  from but you are off on most of it imho. With rare hardware like amiga it can go sky high. Depends what people are willing to play and what it is, not some guidline set by a couple of people on a forum.

Typical Magnetic comment always trying to drive the price up we all know you love buying low and selling high. Amiga are not that rare unless you have some super hard to find hardware.

When it come to prices i would not listen to what magnetic says that one of the reason he got barred from amibay... and don't say their nazi and suck we all know if you could you be be there in a heart beat getting cheap hardware and flogging it off at double, triple the money.

@Claw2200,
Also, can you encourage the shop owner to change from "Buy-it-Now" only sales to Buy-it-Now with the option of making an offer too on all of this Amiga & Commodore items.

Firstly, I'm sure we all appreciate the chance to pick up some nice old pieces of kit. Thanks for that. However, I have to concur with Amigafave - the prices are high. Now I know things are "rare" but I think those Matay PCI boards were sold for $175 new from the remaining stock. I remember a post from Redrum... a ways back about them.

Being allowed to make offers might give the owner a chance to sell more of his stuff and recoup some of the investments.

-Nyle

If there are any A1000 keyboards, and shipping overseas is possible, I'd be interested. Even non-functional ones could be useful, I have one myself that needs a few spare parts (key switches).

Started working and your the first customer of the day.  Well Raymond says he only has enought to sell them with the systems.  And might be short.  So At this time I can't say if we get through the 1000's and have one at the end I will keep on the top of the list to recieve it.

Ok...Sounds good.
Please let me know what stuff you come across so I don't have to look elsewhere. I know the cables are very easy to get, and the power supply can be found on ebay no problem, but I'd rather try to get everything from one place so I don't have to pay for multiple shipments out of the US.

So on the 19th I recieved this letter from amibay's   AndyLandy

__________________________________________________________________
Hiya Claw,

First up, I'm sorry about the way things have been handled at Amibay. There are certainly a few things that need to be discussed to how we'd handle this over there, but I guess things could have been handled better.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that if you are still interested in promoting this stuff on Amibay, we'd like to help, we just need to find a way that's mutually acceptable.

Essentially, Amibay is a sales portal in its own right, not just a forum, and we're keen to see sales handled 'by the book' as that's how we provide peace of mind to our members. I hope you understand where we're coming from.

I certainly appreciate what you're trying to do here, it's really great that you're thinking of the community here and I'd like to see us help you in that quest.

If not, I wouldn't blame you, things have been handled rather shabbily, but we are here to help if you'd like to try again.

Best wishes and good luck with the sales, whatever you decide to do.

AndyLandy, Amibay Dev and Administrator.

Went there a day or two after still didn't have access sent him a  message asking for permission to get back on there.  and now it says I'm Banned with the time to be lifted set to Never.

I really can't believe this.  I would just like to get a straight answer from someone over there.  I'm a little upset that I didn't even break one of their rules and moved it to a different forum to please them and then they ban me for it.

Wow.  I can't believe Amigians would treat eachother this way.  Well its been something thats plaged Amiga for all of its existance why should it change now I guess.

Maybe someday people will just work togather insted of aginst eachother.

Peace to the community!

Claw: at the bottom of Raymond's (cellarsites) ebay auctions, he has the tagline

"About Us: We are a nonprofit corporation  whose mission is to spread technology to those who are typically  underserved in the technology field.  Your purchases help to further  this mission. "

Is he really nonprofit and trying to liquidate to avoid tossing in the dumpster as you originally advertised on all the forums ?  All the comments others have posted about outrageous prices, is there anyway he could come down to a more realistic price on two 1084s monitors?

For $125 I would expect to pay for units that have been refurbished with Retr0brite and a recapped chassis.  Your video presentation makes me wonder the condition of hardware.

Looking at his sold auctions over the past few months his 1541 drives were selling for $10.  Since you advertised he is trying to get $50 out of them, when there is about 20 others going for $5-$13 ?

You have the whole community covered with these forums, but he is alienating everyone.  Nobody is willing to fall for the "RARE / VINTAGE" 500% markup

As I have said several times that I have no control over the pricing what so ever.  The ebay seller has no control either.  What happens every weekend is I go to the warehouse and search for things as well as pick a few items I know should be of interest and get the listing price from the shop owner.  I then catalog the item and drop them to the seller.  The seller is a non-prophet and is doing this only to raise money for his cause.  His cut is a set price the shop owner has worked out in advance.  I don't have details on this as I was not involved in there negotiation. I do suggest lowering the prices to him all the time for you guys but well have to see what comes of it as like I will repeat its not me decision.

I'm only doing this to help the community get things as much as possible.  If the price isn't right don't buy it thats all I can say.  I will keep plugging away at getting lower pricing as much as I can.
