You are aware that one reason why there is a wave of new hardware these days, is a tool which quite a few hardware developers have mentioned that they could never manage without, and this tool was made by someone who had good help from the leaked OS sources. In Viking country, such "easter egg" agreements are by their very nature void. Also void is any attempt at preventing software from running on hardware by terms of licenses - you can run whatever software you have bought on whatever hardware you own, even if it means modifying the software.

Such a clause in the "EULA" of this OS release is straight out pointless and bewildering.

Just installed, and some first impressions....

* The Norwegian locales are horrid. Not the original CBM ones, but all locales that are new look like they are written by someone with seriously lacking knowledge about the Norwegian language.
* The Reboot command is still not installed, why oh why not.
* Cool to see Ed using current console window
* Too much ">NIL:" in the startup-sequence - F.ex. Assign is already quiet, as is Path, if an assign or path fails, wouldn't the user be better off being told so?
* Apparently random use of (redundant) full path to programs in startup-sequence, C:SetPatch instead of just "SetPatch", while BindDrivers gets to be left without C: in front of it.
* Where are the new icons? Are they not part of the release for A1000/A500/A600/A2000?

They probably had to put the clause there due to ongoing disputes. Remember, every cent you give Hyperion or Cloanto goes straight to the pockets of lawyers. The money is not spent evolving the Amiga platform.

Indeed - which I find it it so fulfilling to support this effort - I much rather see lawyers getting the money than the developers. It is refreshing to see that the developers think so too.

Regarding the "clause", if it means what it says, they could just written that one can install it on any system one see fit. The only situation it would make sense to word it such manner, is if Hyperion intends to declare certain earlier versions/distributions of AmigaOS somehow "illegal". To add the confusion, OS 3.1.4 comes with kickstart for emulation use.

I'm pretty confident that our native norwegian translator will take suggestions. Just make sure to keep the length limits.

It is just too much. I suggest the person takes contact with people or organisations that actually do translations.
For example, the KDE team has some good people, and Språkrådet (the person should know this) offers help for free too, and we have free to use online dictionaries.
Do you have .ct files available? I can rewrite them for you for free, I need to do something about the Workbench menus anyways (random use of uppercase in menu entries, "Leer Zeichen In Kom Po Sita")

With the new Intuition.library, there is one (to me) odd limitation - even though one can pull windows off-screen, the size of window is still limited by the size of screen.

I again request for locale ct files to be "released", so one can make own locale catalogs without the hassle of "disassembling" existing ones.

This is correct and intentional. Otherwise, you could move the window in such a way that you cannot reach controls anymore.

That sounds impossible - if you can move it, you can move it back, if you can resize it, you can resize it back.
Unless you also have implemented some way of "lobbing" windows off-screen??

Sounds all plausible to me, though if you want to get something fixed on short notice, I propose that you prepare a "diff" of old vs. new strings and I'll forward to the translator. This is easier procedural-wise, as silly as it sounds.

It sounds really silly, and tedious - as I mentioned, the Norwegian locales are ridden with errors, for example the title windows of the prefs programs are consistently inconsistent. Imagine if in German it was "ASL-Einstellungen", "Audioeinstellungen", "IControl-Einstellungen", but "Workenbench Einstellungen". And for the latter, "Keine Farbe Ikonen", "Kein Tittel Feld", "Tastatur Auswahl Verzögerung" ... it just goes on and on. Even Google Translate does better :p

If I had .ct files, I would happily provide diffs and new locales for both the official variants of Norwegian (not just bokmål, as it currently is).

(Wasn't there an Amiga translator organisation or something similar earlier at some point?)

Yes, I know that, but then I would also have a panning Workbench screen.
I would actually prefer if I could turn off the entire off-screen thing (which would be an IControl thing) also when using v45 Intuition.library.

And why is v45 left out from the 68000 distro? As far as I know, CyberGraphX requires at least 020.
Would it not be better to just include a separate kickstart file for CyberGraphX users?

Since when was following Windows' example a good thing? There is no such limitations in macOS or any other desktop I'm using, and strangely enough, there are no problems with "unreachable controls", so I am curious on exactly how one would manage to move windows in a way so that window gadgets would really become unreachable. Anyways, I hope it will be possible to turn off this feature (IControl prefs), as my "amiga workflow" is very much accustomed to windows being limited by the screen border (and if I could request a feature, it would be to have another hotkey for grabbing and moving windows without having to use titlebar - then it would be possible to move windows in a way so that control gadgets would be unreachable.)

Well, once you add accelerator card with 020+, you can also move to a different kickstart - I have one reason, and one reason only for using CGFx (v4), and that is CVPPC. Anyways, would it not be easier to just provide a legacy kickstart image for (the few) CGFx users, than requiring everyone else to meddle with startup-sequence and double-boot and potentially waste precious chipram? Oh well, making custom kickstarts is easy enough.
