I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned (or maybe it has...?)
'New Scientist' magazine reports that a radio signal noticed on three occasions is the best candidate yet for an ET message.
The signal comes from a point between PISCES AND Aries and has been observed for a total of about 60 seconds only, not enough time for a full analysis. However, it's unlikely to be radio interference or noise and it doesn't look like any known astronomical object.
Some people theorise that it could be a glitch in the Arecibo telescope, or simply an unknown astronomical phenomenon. SETI workers though, think it could be ET.
The signal has been named SHGbo2+14a and has a rapidly fluctuating frequency around 1420 MHz. This is one of the main Hydrogen emission frequencies and would be a 'logical frequency for aliens to announce their presence'.
Sorry if this is old news, but it appeared in yesterday's Yorkshire Post, one of the best regional newspapers in the UK.
Cheers,
