Title: In an Effort to Combat SpamBots we will be Refusing New Registrations from Hotmail
Post by: SysAdmin on December 24, 2011, 04:42:12 AM
In an effort to combat SpamBots we will no longer be accepting registrations from Hotmail e-mail addresses starting today. If you use Hotmail and want to register as a new user please select an alternate e-mail address. We will also be reviewing all old accounts that use Hotmail for any Spam activity. If you are already registered and use Hotmail as your primary e-mail address you have nothing to worry about as long as you're not a SpamBot. If you are a SpamBot your account will be annihilated with extreme prejudice for 1 million Peta years.

Spam is evil.
Hotmail is evil.

I applaud your efforts to destroy spam.

It's crawling toward you Kesa. You reach down, you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can't, not without your help Kesa. But you're not helping. Why is that Kesa?

It's a test designed to provoke an emotional response.

Really? And what is the verdict of this test? What emotions should occur and why is this?

Its a question designed to produce the "blush response", heart rate, and eye movement in response to emotionally provocative questions. It should take 20 -30 questions cross referenced to see if your a replicant. Though by the looks of things it's only gonna take the one lol.

You're reading a magazine. You come across a full-page nude photo of a girl.

You're in luck, Mr. Deckard, or maybe not so much.  I *am* a lesbian.

Yesterday and today we had a few people try to register using Hotmail so we wanted to mention once again it is not allowed do to Spambot problems. If you want to join this site please use another e-mail service (we recommend G-mail).

Thank You

We may have to update the TOS so it is very clear.

FYI

To combat spambots we still don't allow Hotmail e-mail accounts on Amiga.org. If you tried to register with Hotmail and it failed please reregister with G-mail or something else. I saw a few failed registrations for Hotmail so I thought it might be good to bring this up again. Hotmail is obsolete and it's silly that anyone still uses it in the 21st century.

Hotmail? Thought Microsoft were stopping that service and replacing it with outlook web mail or something.

Last time I used Hotmail was over 10 years ago :-)

@Lurch

You can still create new Hotmail e-mail accounts and spammers do it all the time.

I was under the impression that they were just dropping the Hotmail name and rolling everything into the live system.

No problems with Yahoo? At work we've been blocking them for a year now. Hotmail, MSN, Live, ... have just joined them recently... ;)

In what possible way is it obsolete?

It's silly that people think the way you do.
