Club Amiga Membership
« on: October 29, 2003, 12:32:24 PM »
I am a subscriber of Total Amiga Magazine and I'm
wondering about any advantages of becoming a
"Club Amiga" member besides (the t-shirt, magazine), etc.

Reference was made to "other significant discounts
and special promotions" possibly being offered to members. Any and all information would be greatly
appreciated.

                                                                           THANKS!!!!!!

Hello and welcome to Amiga.org!!

You have asked a question that is certainly a hot topic. Please forgive anyone who has an emotional response.

The Club Amiga membership was stillborn. Amiga Inc has yet to honor their responsibilities reguarding for their first promotion on the inital membership drive, and now they are insolvent. AFAIK new members will only receive access to a secret monthly news letter. Nothing more nothing less.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

To redrumloa,

Thanks for the information. In light of that it sure doesn't seem worth my $50!!!

Just ignore that.  I joined back in August 2002 and haven't had any special discounts or been informed of any special promotions.  There's no T-Shirt either, and no coupon.

If you have purchased an Amigaone, you can subscribe to CAM for free. Although the magazine is only available to subscibers, the main article is always released to the public, on publishing the next issue of CAM.

I dont know if the $50 voucher offer is closed, but my understanding is that the "Voucher" will be included with OS4. We can only wait until OS4 is released to find out what will happen.

 :ranting:

Perhaps Amiga Inc. originally planned to honour the $50 coupon promotion ... or perhaps it was truly a SCAM.

I simply don't know ...

Many of us, who bought into this scheme, including myself, seem to remember that we were promised a T-shirt, as well as a $50 coupon towards the purchase of an AmigaOne and/or AmigaOS4.

I can't remember if it was meant to be a mail-in rebate or if the dealer was to honour the coupon.

Anyway ... the T-shirt never materialized ... neither did the "coupon" ...

Some of us now feel that this was an  SCAM ...

and we are :madashell:

I am positive beyond a shadow of a doubt that the online Club Amiga magazine (CAM) subscription was offered simply as a form of damage control after so many people were ranting about the T-shirts in the forums.

And I suppose ... as long as AmigaOS4 is not released to the public ... Amiga Inc. does not have to honour any promises they made over a year ago.

Meanwhile ... the online magazine is actually quite good  :-D

but IMHO, it is hardly worth $50 US.
