Idiot's Guide to DONTs
« on: April 10, 2011, 09:39:30 PM »
So, I'm busy installing some printer drivers for SWMBO, and she is sitting in my computer chair staring at my book shelf.

She asks;

"Hey... how come you haven't got an Idiot's Guide to DONTs as well then??"

CLASSIC!!!

Haha, very cool! I've had a few people comment on my bookshelves here - a rather odd mix, and I suspect a lot of people here would have similarly interesting bookshelves :)

Mine aren't in much of an order though, so it's a bit of a mess. But the end nearest me now is:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Eyewitness Guide to Lisbon
Amiga Shopper ARexx guide
Blitz Basic 2.1 manual
Complete Amiga C
The Lord of the Rings
Devil May Care
Mastering Digital Printing
Photoshop CS4 for Digital Photographers
First into Nagasaki
The Illustrated History of British Steam Railways

... and so on...

That is indeed a very eyebrow raising book shelf you have there!

I never had any interest in Lord of the Rings until the movies started coming out.  I think I'd like to read the books now!

Aw, I love the Lord of the Rings! Read it when I was about 12 (17 years ago!), then read it again when the films came out, and then bought that 50-year anniversary edition a couple of years ago which is the edition I have there. You should give it a go for sure! There's a lot in them, but it's such a richly detailed story that it's hard to put down, and there are a lot of things in there which didn't make it into the films...

I saw on Lord of the Rings pt 1. (the original cartoon version back in the 70s/80s) on Sci-Fi channel it was on other Xmas I think.  I waited inanticipation for pt 2. on Sci-fi the day after or the week after.

I kept waiting and waiting... getting pissed off with Sci-fi, I looked on the website in the schedule, sent a snotty email to Sci-fi america asking where the hell it was.

They replied saying they didn't have a pt 2 in the schedule. >.<

After looking around the Internet I found out they never actually did a part two lol... felt like a right fool after venting at them. xD

... you gotta read the book(s) - read LotR when I was a kid and it's still one of my favourite reads.

Anyway - I think the Idiot's Guide to DON'TS is a potential bestseller! :D
