Title: Phase 5 CV64/3D maybe for sale
Post by: jj on August 01, 2007, 09:47:00 PM
Im just trying to gauge the interest in this item.  If I get any good offers, might be interested in selling.  Not used it for years and I am in  bit of a financial pickle at the mo.

So offer away

No sorry.

Thought it was only CV64 that had this module

Wish I had known there was one for the CV64/3D

Nope the CV64 only had a monitor switcher/pass through.

Yes look at the card, doesn't it look like it is missing a part at the end?  :)

Scandoubler yes, but no flickerfixer like the integrated one on the P-IV:
CyberVision 64/3D (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=447)

"...the native display is not scandoubled but is simply passed through...".

This means that you can not play games or other native displays on an (S)VGA monitor. Whit this gfx card you have to use 2 monitors. Very annoying.
You're better of buying a CyberVision64 (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=463)

No this is wrong. I have a scan doubler for my CV643D and it DOES allow you to view PAL/NTSC games on (s)vga and LCD monitors.  What it doesn't do is de-interlace pal and ntsc video, and show some other unusual modes like euro, and 28 hz 800x600 modes.  It also does nothing to DBPAL and DBLNTSC Productivity Modes which are just passed thru and some svga monitirs can show some not. In other words if you have a pal or ntsc interlaced mode it will flicker on svga but YOU WILL SEE IT.
I also have a CV64 and this has a pass-thru so PAL modes are not scan doubled and will NOT show on most svga monitors.  It is however faster than the CV643D, and it has the ROXXLER chip which does ?

PS You may be right about not scan-doubling, but in the DCE docs in your link this applies to non-AGA systems  I have an A4000 and so i have not tested this in a non-AGA amiga

CV64 has indeed a pass-trough for incoming native signals.
When the incoming signal is from an scandoubler/FF, it CAN
display games and other native displays on any (S)VGA monitor, like with my A3000's internal SD/FF.

Believe me, the CV64/3D is cr*p when used with a non-AGA system. You have to use 2 monitors: 1 for >31Khz+ output and the other for the native screen modes including any games.

Both the CV64 and the CV64/3D linked together with its scandoubler are great in my opinion. I also use the CV64 together with the Phase 5 scandoubler. In this case I have the Phase 5 scandoubler in the bottom video slot of the A4000's daughterboard and the CV64 in next Zorro slot up. I then use a lead to feed the Phase 5 scandoublers signal into the INPUT side of the CV64 :-)

Here's a pic with the position where the Phase 5 scandoubler connects to the CV64/3D using a tiny lead circled (well it's more of an oval than a circle really :-D)

When using the Phase 5 scandoubler and CV64/3D i have PASSTHROUGH =YES in the monitor driver and the PC monitor goes on the Phase 5 scandoubler itself. No problem with playing old games or displaying native Amiga screenmodes in an A4000 8-)

The downside of scandoubler for CV3D is that it's not true 24bit so if you are used to aga demos you'll notice that the gradients look worse than in 15khz and also that colour palette is more reduced than in other scandoublers or 15khz monitors.
