U.S. Public Broadcasting Under Threat

Public radio and television stations could be lost in the 2012 federal budget! Get involved at 170MillionAmericans.org. – or – Did you know that 170 million people – more than half of all Americans – use public broadcasting each month? Help me protect this amazing public service at http://170MillionAmericans.org.

The educational, news, public affairs, and cultural programming offered by our nation’s 1,300 public broadcasting stations has never been more vital – and we have never needed your voice in Washington more.
 
We can’t let Congress silence the public airwaves in the 2012 budget. Stand up for public broadcasting today!

Well, I support public broadcasting and will research this issue some more, but I just wanted to point out that the site you linked to has not one single iota of information on the home page as to what the problem is. It says "Take Action Take Action" but doesn't define why or how public broadcasting is in danger.

In the age of Technological overload, FCC, Regulation, and Rights for those who can afford it...

If that's all you saw, then your browser is having a nervous breakdown.  The website has always explained why and how public broadcasting is in danger- because of the threat of congress cutting off their funding.  Government funding is a significant portion of their budget.  And it's not hard to see how trying to make up the difference if this was eliminated could be threatening to their continued operation, particularly in a severe recession.
