Amiga 500 black screen after kickstart rom upgrade
« on: December 29, 2023, 09:53:03 AM »
Hello,
Like I feared, it looks like my amiga adventure is risking to become a short one.
After the upgrade of kickstart rom to 3.1 it wont start. It just shows a black screen.

I have a revision 5 board, which needed the kickstart rom adapter, and Ive installed it like this:

So did the A500 work with the original Kickstart ROM?

Unfortunately without a backstory etc.. Cannot provide any further help or guidance here.

Yes it did work with the original rom. Otherwise than that... I dont think there is much of a backstory. You can se how I installed it. I was hoping that maybe I put it in reversed or something

Can you test the old rom again?
Sometimes the A500 will not boot with non-original Commodore chips with a plain 68000, and needs a mod.

I solved it!
The keyboard connector was put back reversed. Apparently this makes the screen go black and nothing happens. But now I have the 3.1 version :)
