AT A1200 floppy troubles
« on: February 03, 2004, 09:06:47 PM »
I've got an Amiga Technologies A1200 that was sold to me as non working.
Well I stuck a WB disk in there and tried to boot it up and it wouldn't boot, so I tried another disk, wouldn't boot.

So I prised apart a shabby external DD drive I have and took out the Sony drive in there with a view to replacing it in the A1200.
Now, the drive I took out is a standard HD drive modified to read Amiga DD disks AFAIK. And this 'hack' is part of the unit. So in theory I should be able to put this new drive in. ...

But when I do, still nothing.

Any ideas?

Tried jumper setting at 1 too

The drive gets power ok, the LED comes on both on the drive and on the cluster, but that's it, it just seizes

Of course! I just assumed it was a pin adaptor, but you're right. I just guessed the Sony drive in there was the same as the amiga ones that were used.
In which case, how come I have read on the internet that this swap (external amiga drivev -> internal) is possible?

How in the hell am I going to get a replacement?  :-(
