What's wrong with using just OS3.9 components? Why are you trying to use obsolete components from OS3.1 with OS3.9? This seems pointless and a recipe for instability. Go OS3.9 only, is my advice.

No, it is a vast leap over 3.1, I would rather switch platforms than go back to 3.1.
