I'm having problems with a CF card. I suspect it's hardware (card or adapter) so want to see if there's anything I've missed in diagnosis.
- Second hand 8GB transcend 133x CF card card from CEX
- New startech cf to ide adapter as slave on primary ide channel
- My real A1200
I'm well practiced at installing and using PFS.
In HDtoolbox or HDinsttools after I add PFS to the rdb and reboot, PFS vanishes from the list of filesystems.
I can partition the drive (tried 1x8GB and 2 4xGB partitions) and format. They turn to Dhx:NDOS after reboot
Trying to write files results in errors similar to this https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=33722.0
Running repair from the PFS tools appears to work but after a reboot the volumes turn to NDOS.
The CF card appears to work fine as NTFS under Windows.
Thanks.

Change the brand of card, I always have issues with Transend.
Good luck!

Thank you. Are there any recommended brands, it other particular ones to avoid. I'm not going to risk the generic brands from Amazon etc.

What OS are you using?
Sometimes CFs are incompatible and do stuff.

I have physical OS 3.2 roms. I have tried with both softkicked 3.2.2 and plain 3.2 roms. I have OS 3.2.2 installed.
I've ordered another CF card (Integral) which will arrive tomorrow.

The new card arrived this morning and I was able to install PFS, partition and format it all in about 10 mins, and it's working beautifully.
Here are the items I got from Amazon:
16GB card: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07C7HVT2T
CF to IDE adapter: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0026OYEEQ
Thank you all for the advice.

Anything generic, Sandisk for a brand.

That's strange, I use Transcend all the time and never had an issue yet.
I am using the x133 ones.
Partition and format to PFS3 or SFS no problems.
Currently use a 32Gb one in my A1200 with 9 partitions.
