What follows is a very recent quote from Rougue, an OS4 dev:
Sorry for the website trouble. It seems that "long awaited" wasn't just a buzzword here, right now I am hardly able to log into the machine via remote shell. We're working on fixing the issue. Please have a bit of patience. Thank you.

Cool news, updates like these encourage us non-OS4.x users to join the party.

@ NovaCoder
I know what you mean, my inner fanboy just had a rare day out after looking around for screenshots, and suddenly the desktop theme I'm using has a very blue/white thing going on :)

I thought it was going to include USB2.0 drivers :-(

My videos show OS4.1 Update 1 and the new features, They are introduced by the main developer Simon Archer (Rigo).
AFAIK Nothing has changed since they were made except one small bug fix.

No, they will be released in 2018, when the rest of the world is using USB5.0

Still cannot get through, times out, after all the hype Hyperion should have known there would have been a large download demand for the update by eager users.

>Update 1 of AmigaOS 4.1, the most substantial update to date
Obviously the first update is going to also be the "most substantial update to date", as there ARE no other updates to compare it to! :-)
-

USB2.0 is in development, and will be released "when its done(TM)". There would be no point in releasing it before it is working properly.

AmigaOS 4.1 and its update for Classic PPC Amigas is available in two more weeks...
:)
-
Even AmigaOS 3.1 has USB 2.0! Not to mention AROS and MorphOS.
How can USB 2.0 not be a priority? Well, I guess OS 4.1 is still a very immature OS which still needs bigger issues to be taken care of first!
So for me, what Hyperion says about AmigaOS 4.1 coming out of the beta, it is just exageration or simple marketing BS.
In the end i hope OS 4.1 does catch up, before the industry moves ahead with another standart. It is sad.

Who says it isn't? Its just not ready yet.

AmigaOS4.1 was already out of beta for AmigaOne and Pegasos II. It was still beta for the SAM because support for the SAM hardware wasn't quite ready yet and was released with a beta label attached. Now the SAM version is no longer considered beta.

I guess thats some kind of joke, but i fail to understand the humour. AmigaOS4.1 has never been promised for classics, let alone a timeframe given, although Hyperion haven't ruled it out.
-
You are too serious defending OS4.1. Chill out! :)
Jokes aside, it is nice to know an AmigaOS-like got updated.
-
Okay so if Hyperion considers OS4.1 is out of the beta without having support for USB 2.0, then their OS 4.x expectations/goals are really low.
So congrats for them for following the continuous Amiga Inc. legacy of substandart computing achievements! :)
-
Well, I've managed to download the ISO. Tomorrow I will back up DH0 (I don't have a working 4.0 install on there anyway) and try it out.

Gulliver, could you please ... erm ... ah ... forget it.
-
Maybe i was a bit hard on the last sentence about Hyperion like Amiga Inc., but not on the other stuff
Okay, i will let you enjoy the moment! :)
-
awesome update! just installed it tonight and it was worth the wait..Blender runs great too..WOW..got lots of messing around with my Miggy to do nowm :-)
-
They could just port Poseidon and be done with it, and as for new standard, sure... I've already spotted usb-3.0 in in the wild.
-
They could just port Poseidon and be done with it.
Or maybe, rather than just throw out all the hard work they've been doing, they could just finish the USB2.0 support in their own USB stack?
-
I for one am very happy with this update. It finally solved the stability problems of my Sam and also speed up the system. I am sure USB2 will come out soon enough..
-
AmigaOS 4.1 Update 1 running just fine on my MicroA1-C now after I disabled the rear USB ports.
OWB 3.23 working fine here. I have not had a chance to try out my other software yet.
For whatever reason, Update 1 is very unstable on the MicroA1-C machines. Problems booting from CD or hard drive make it very difficult to install the new OS. Most users experienced booting problems, for example Grim Reapers or booting into a blank white Workbench screen or booting into a black screen or freezes and general unstable running if it booted all the way into OS4.
Temporary fix is to disable rear USB ports using UBoot. This makes the system stable.

arghhh...honestly now why do you bother posting this nonsense in this thread???
The update was definitely worth the wait for us OS4.1 owners on Sam boards!....Blender runs amazing on it!..now we wait for TimberWolf :-)
