VLC Media Player
« on: June 18, 2011, 07:33:19 PM »
I finally found something that will make my quadcore fall to its knees. It make the cpu usage hit 95% and above. I was converting a flv to h.264.
I do not think that povray pushes it that hard.

x264 (the library) has really good threading.

If you've got CPU power, it will definitely make use of it.

Sounds like overclocking and water cooling are a good idea, if I had the money.
I have a water cooling unit, but it is for 939,754, and 478. Probably could work on AM3.

More than slight overclocking can very quickly get more expensive than buying a faster CPU in the first place... ;)

No quarrels with that.
AMD Hex core is about 200.00 dollars.
