Cyberstorm MKII not reconizing ZORRO slots
« on: February 20, 2023, 02:15:45 AM »
Hi all,

I have functioning Cyberstorm MKII, which boots and runs programs fine from IDE HD and floppy,
but does not recognize the zorro slots, except the bottom video one with a 2320 deinterlacer.
I have tried several times to do the MKII Update from floppy, making sure the jumper is set correctly
according to the manual.
The error message is "firmware damaged or jumper not set"

My question is....is there a way to program the onboard bios IC independently by eitheer removing
and replacing the chip, or insitu.

Is the firmware code still proprietory or is it available online.

Thanks

The Cyberstorm flash updates are available here: http://phase5.a1k.org/

the code is available, its in the flash file.

There is a good thread over here you might also check: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=70960

It is possible to replace or reprogram the onboard flash chip, but you might exhaust all possibilities first.

There is a chip clip that can clip on the rom on the MKII and then go to your eprom programmer to program it "In Circuit", i have tried this with things like acard 7720U and such but not on an accelerator.
good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks,
I am sure the firmware is corrupted, as the MK II update on floppy fails
