Title: Banned list?
Post by: crawff on June 14, 2011, 01:16:55 PM
Is there a list of members who are banned from this site?

I haven't seen Franko for a while.

Development feature?

Franko is taking a break.  He isn't banned.  :)

Sadly not, he keeps putting up "Open Letter" threads aimed at Wayne specifically and the Moderators more generally. They're pretty whiny stuff that amount to "Baaaaaawwwww".

And so keep getting deleted.

And in answer to your question

Why were both of these threads deleted ?

Uhuh...

At a guess...

Glad to hear you've found employment once again and despite what you think I actually have no beef with yourself, it seems to be the other way round from your posts of recent days that you have a some sort of beef with me for some reason.

As you quoted the TOS, then Wayne is clearly violating them with his posts directed at me personally.

I can give as good as I get and am quite happy to do so, as that's the way I like to do things. When it comes to Wayne being able to say whatever he likes about me without being moderated and when I reply in the same manner I get moderated then that is my only complaint here as I could go all day long responding to such posts as I generally find them quite amusing.

But as long as this situation goes on then I'll make it clear by whatever means that this is unfair and I'm not happy with it... ;)

If you can't understand why I might take issue with some of the things you have said not only to me but to people I'm friends with then I can't really help you on that.

Try putting your open message in the sock drawer. Seems to me that section was practically born for such things. As for it being unfair, in my 30 years of life if there is one thing I have learned time and time again is that life is unfair.

I have only ever responded to you in the same manner in which you posted things about me (the past couple of days being a prime example).

As for you claiming because certain folk are your friends then that just a cop out, I don't ask folk to defend me and quite often ask them to keep out of it if I have a disagreement with someone.

To me we should all be grown up enough to be able to respond to things said ourselves without others jumping in to defend their friends and that applies to me as well.

While I don't like to use that button, I have been forced to in recent days and on a number of occasion it a has been ignored despite being sent on more than one occasion for the same post.

Which just goes to prove my point about certain bias being shown here.

The open letter to Wayne was moved to the sock drawer first by someone and then it was deleted by someone. Also there is no point in me responding to Wayne in those threads when his posts go unmoderated and my responses to them get moderated or deleted for using the exact same words as he does.

I know life isn't fair I did after all spend over 20 years being a Shop Steward and Regional Union Rep fighting for workers rights and believe me I've seen plenty unfair things in life and fought them all the way to the bitter end on behalf of the members no matter what the personal cost to my own health and job security.

Very nice, except the above is utter bunkum my old fruit. You previously dismissed your attacks against me as "humour" and in fact have done that to a good few folk on here "oh I didn't mean anything by it, they just don't get my sense of humour".

Look... I know you cant understand things very well and that's why you always resort to dismissing them out of hand with your predictably boring replies that just like every thing else you post is down to your lack of intelligence and inability to give a straight and reasonable answer.

It;s your lack of humour that makes everything you reply with utter bunkum not mine.

There's a maximum?  What is it?

From what I've seen there should be quite a few people who've hit that limit and should have to take time to reflect on proper decorum.

Just my 2 cents.

Oh hey, that works too!

You go after people with whom you disagree, you make "humourous" comments about them, await the inevitable response and then go at it, anyone who challenges you and you play the victim. Great, it's top drawer trolling and major kudos for it.

Or, put more plainly: If someone doesn't get rid of Wayne I won't donate no more!

Perhaps extortion might have been a better description. That or spitting your dummy out because you can't get what you want...

Btw, re-reading that thread, you have absolutely nothing to complain about given some of the stuff that has been left on there. Both you and Wayne had posts moderated in that thread too.

No matter which way you swing it, if you are genuine about being "fair" and having fought so hard for justice then you have a moral responsibility if nothing else, to prove what you're saying is true for the sake of others on this site.

Or, you can continue as you are and come to be known as a liar.

Pretty sever accusations, what are you on, is simply stated what I was told in person by certain people who were friends of yours (and may still be for all I know) what they told me which was basically "if I were you mate I wouldn't trust everything Allan says"...

So if anyone is making accusations then ask your so called friends you used to hang around with at certain south of England Amiga meets...

Call me a liar all you want as I could care less what you think of me, I'm quite comfortable in myself knowing that I have simply stated what others have told me.

Yes that is me and to be honest other than being a bit older I haven't changed appearance wise that much. We only ever met on two short occasions but I've never forgotten you (even after what your friends had told me) and about a little speech you gave on one of those occasions, which I was actually quite impressed by and even applauded it. Quote
From dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/blackmail)

Blackmail:

5.
to force or coerce into a particular action, statement, etc.: The strikers claimed they were blackmailed into signing the new contract.

You state that because of people like Wayne, you are refusing to donate to the site. You also asked for him to be banned several times in that thread. The clear implication being that with you would be willing to donate once more as and when he left. Obviously given that the two of you have called a ceasefire since then this becomes academic.

Quote from: Franko;645286

You have a very odd definition of southern if you view West Yorkshire as such.

I remember donating some CD32 games and a copy of OS3.5 for a raffle as well as who won it (Terl on IRC). As far as hardware goes, I think I once gave rockape an 030 accelerator with scsi daughterboard.

But then again, all of this could have been pulled from publicly available sources, not the least of which is this site. Interestingly I don't think I ever had a goatee at the meetings. Sure, it's on Scag's website on my profile picture, but I had a full beard on both occasions I actually visited.

Just to make sure that you've got the right fella, how tall was I and style was my hair when I visited.

Just because people know other people online they think they know all their history so funny, Stuff like i have know someone for years online but we never met... funny sorry but you don't know people for a bar of soap just by "meeting" them online since everyone can Post an image of themselves that is far from what is real. Take me for example except for one certain person i am generally nice BUT is that the real me or is the real me someone if you say boo to would more likely cut you up into small pieces and feed you to fish? Problem is now that i put that thought into you, you are starting to think of it.
Basically an claim BY ANYONE say they KNOW someone which they actually haven't meet in real life and spent time with is all BS and kindly refrain from "claiming you know of said person".

Basically if you have realised this by now the internet is a make believe world that you can get anyone to believe what you want them to believe. (yes years or playing runescape and WOW taught me so).

PS so many broken records on this site now it getting too boring to even bother coming here anymore.

Stuff like i have know someone for years online but we never met... funny sorry but you don't know people for a bar of soap just by "meeting" them online since everyone can Post an image of themselves that is far from what is real.

You can learn a whole hell of a lot about a person in terms of character purely from their posts. You would have to be stunningly naive to think someone couldn't construct an accurate general profile of you based on your online actions. Sure, there are those who actively go out of their way to hide themselves, but then again the same could be said of meatspace. I doubt very much that people working with Joseph Fritzl would have thought even for a second he had his daughter locked up in his basement, for example.

Basically an claim BY ANYONE say they KNOW someone which they actually haven't meet in real life and spent time with is all BS and kindly refrain from "claiming you know of said person".

But she does, actually. Yes, I do use alternate usernames in different places depending on where I am. But this is and will remain my public profile, it is me, with less shyness. As those who have actually met me in person will happily attest to. So kindly refrain from imposing your ill-conceived beliefs on others and demanding their silence when you clearly don't know shit about it.

Basically if you have realiased this by now the internet is a make believe world that you can get anyone to believe what you want them to believe. (yes years or playing runescape and WOW taught me so).

And this is different from meatspace, how exactly? Applying what you learned on a few select online games that deal specifically in fantasy and escapism doesn't automatically translate into the rest of the internet any more than 4chan does.

You missed the point obliviously i don't know you or want to you know and i am sure vice versa but basing how someone truly is on what they post well that's too funny, thing is people can post anything they want even if they don't actually believe it to be true and my point still stands unless you know someone face to face how can you truly know them.

As with that Joseph guy i was actually going to include it in my first post, the thing is you really don't know anyone even when you have meet them face to face BUT you know someone EVEN less if you are just seeing them online NO MATTER how they post like.

The runescape and WOW where just examples there ARE SO MANY MORE PLACES THAT YOU CAN BS TO EVERYONE if you don't know this by now then I have a nice bridge I can sell you because i own Sydney Harbour and don't need it's bridge any more, For a very very good price. :D

No mess, no fuss.
Or "Bang!" and the spam is gone.

Well then, let's test that assumption.

Fortunately we have on this very forum people who have met me in person and those who know me only through my posts.

What I propose is simple:

10 or 15 general questions, along the lines of "what kind of music do I like", that sort of thing.

Now if what you're saying is correct, the replies you get from people who know me online and in real life should be very different from one another.

So, care to test your hypothesis?

:banana:Right on so many levels Kesa...

Well Leander, I've always thought of you as either Sherlock Holmes, or thick headed bald guy with a 5 o’clock shadow and ridiculously large fingers.  I've tried not to think of the undie thing.  Close to the mark?

what the hell is THIS about?

I've known the_leander for many years and although we have never met in person I would completely trust him. I have found him to be honorable, sympathetic, intelligent and having a healthy sense of humor.

there is nothing vaguely amusing about your assertion...just so you know

I too have known Alan for circa a decade and have met him in person many times when we have gone out for meals.

Franko is spouting pure bs here I'm afraid.

Kinda depends, I suppose both characters represent on some level extremes of my personality - Holmes the detective, analytical, methodical and with an eye on the evidence before him. The Heavy... More or less my inner troll :D

But the 5 o'clock shadow is bang on, on a 12 hour shift, even if I shave minutes before leaving for work, I could probably shave twice during and still have the shadow :(

This in of itself wouldn't be an issue, but wearing a shirt with a tie means I'm prone to skin irritation around my neck. Damn I miss just being able to wear t-shirts, or even collarless shirts.
