Title: NewIcons installed, Old Icons displaying
Post by: ErrethAkbe on December 10, 2005, 03:11:30 PM
Hi!

Just installed the latest NewIcons (v4.6) on my OS3.5 setup. It seems that in order to get the system to display the new drawer icons, I have to do a "snapshot->all" on each one first--quite a drag considering I have about 100 in all that I would have to do this way if not more. Also, the drive icons won't change.

Running "Update Drawers" doesn't do anything either.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Marc

Is it just drawer icons (using env:sys/def_drawer.info) that you are having a problem with, or is it all of the system icons too?

Doesn't 3.5 have it's own GlowIcons meaning the Newicons should be totally removed?

I think NewIcons isn't actually needed anymore.  IIRC it's been incorporated into the ROM update.

Installing it might have set it to run twice, the second time it's run it actually quits NewIcons completely.

One way to test is to put a ; at the start of the NewIcons line in the user-startup or startup-sequence.

You must not install NewIcons on top of OS3.5/3.9. You can use the icons but you may not install the programs. Remove everything NewIcons-related and make sure you have icon.library and DefIcons from the OS3.5 CD. Especially make sure that neither NewIcons nor DefIcons is called in user-startup and delete newicon.library from Libs.

Thomas
