The one presented on the picture was named Amiga M1438S. But this design is absolutely identical to Microvitec 1438. It actually is Microvitec. The Amiga M1438S looks a bit different, it has a set of VRs and a power switch visible, which Microvitec had hidden ot the bottom of the case. The mian difference between Microvitec`s origin and Amiga`s version are speakers and cable, which does not require VGA adapter anymore. (BTW: Microvitec supplied an adapter to every piece of 1438). I still use my good old Amiga M1438S... After two minor repairs it still works, the picture is very good. I replaced the DB23 amiga cable which definitely died, with a VGA cable, so I can also connect it to any PC. I currently use it as a display for my a1200 and PowerMac. If anyone has questions about this monitor, please feel welcome to write me an email.

mate of mine had the 17" model. the tube kept going pop every two months or so. and took 3 months to get fixed. no problems with my 14" tho.

Yeah I used to have an M1438S, I liked it because it was branded "Amiga" with the logo on the case but it wasn't very good... Could never get the picture to fill the whole screen, and it wasn't very crisp or clear.

There was a 15" and a 17" model too IIRC.

This looks a lot like my Mikrovitec M1438S.

its a stereo multisync monitor that will provide video output with a line frequency between 15 and 40 Kilohertz, with the Frame rate in the 50 to 100Hz range.

Its big. its bulky. the Image quality isnt brilliant, and the speakers definitely arent, but it does PAL/NTSC as well as RGB.
I also have the m1438s.monitor for workbench which will allow a reasonably flicker-free 800x600 interlaced display- I use that all the time !
(note: hacks are available to get 1024x768 - that one is horribly interlaced though ... :-P)
