Just make sure that your Amiga 500 is not a Rev 5 NTSC .  If it is then an ACA500 will not work.  The Amiga 500 Rev 5 PAL versions are said to work though.

most of games would work with just hdd+RAM.
you'd just need to reset it (not all games).
