Is my floppy disk drive broken?
« on: May 08, 2020, 04:11:15 PM »
Hello! I have an A1200 and I can't load from my floppy disk drive. When I put in a floppy I get, beneath a picture of a floppy, the text "DF0::? ? ? ?" Is the drive broken?
Can you help me?
I love Amiga
Is an A500 diskdrive the same as an A1200 diskdrive?

Alright. So I guess it is possible to swap the drives and use their own eject button etc. So only swap the drives but not the eject button etc.? Does anyone know?
It is an internal drive.

Maybe the problem is that he starts up workbench first and so doesn't go on with the floppy drive. When I start up my a1200 I get the on screen message df0:? ? ? ?.How can I let the a1200 start up from the internal floppy drive?

Yes I have done that. He detects a disc. It doesn't matter if it is an original game disc or an empty unformatted disc or an copied game disc. He gives df0:? ? ? ?. I will get cleansing liquid soon. So I will clean him.

I haven't opened it yet. Is it save to use cotton swabs with cleansing liquid? I will check if it is the cable. I must say the drive works well But it doesn't do the whole job. It is only a bit dirty. It hasn't been used for 20 years. The ejectbutton is sticky, it is a bit heavy to push it.

Alright. I will use PRF-48. Is that good? It is a spray. Of course I must not spray in the drive. I will use it to wet the cotton swabs. And I will see a guidancevideo. Thank you.

That is good advice, thank you.
Within a few days I will have an external drive. See what happens.
