It sounds risc base. If os4 supported multi processors and this board would be a chance to get back in the game.

If you think about it for a second, is not that fast. The Core i7-980 @4.5GHz get around 95 GFLOPs compared to Adapteva 16-core at 26 gigaflops. *(even PS3 can do 150GFLOPS, and it has PPC CPU)

I know the price is cheaper but not a breakthrough.
A500 KS 2.1, 1MB Chip, 68000
A600 KS 3.1, 2MB Chip, ACA630 32MB RAM
A1000 KS 1.3, 8MB RAM
A1200 KS 3.1, Blizzard IV 50MHz 64MB RAM
A2000 KS 2.1, 68030 25MHz, 6MB RAM
A3000 KS 3.1, 68030 25MHz, 16MB RAM
A4000 KS 3.0, 68040 25MHz, 16MB RAM
CDTV KS 3.1, 4MB RAM
CD32
(AROS BOX) Dead :(

My 4 year old $50 video card does about 500 GFLOPS.

The chip from Adapteva seems to be designed for low power consumption. The performance of the chip may not seem so impressive, but the performance per watt is very good.

Well if you can't play well with others, you've got to play with yourself.:whack:

Translating high gflops gpu's into something useful for general purpose computing isn't always easy or indeed possible.

Actually, the offer of a dual core A9 based board for $99 is pretty cool (depending on speed).
So the Epiphany processor is kind of secondary.

Edit - Then again I just found this:

!.4GHz Quad Core Cortex A9 board for $129 shipped worldwide.
