I'm not sure of any direct ones, though I wouldnt be surprised if theres some on AmiNet... but you can do it indirectly. One way is with an AIM (AOL IM) client, several of which exist for Amiga. I dont know how (or if) it works in Europe, but in the US and Canada you can sent an IM to +1xxxxxxxxxx (the "+" character followed by 1 and the area code and number, no dashes or other punctuation) and it will send the message as an SMS message to the number.

There are some web based SMS tools too I think.

I dont know of any amiga programs, but the site me and my friend created should do the job, its address is http://www.jakkass.com - it allows you to send international texts (if that is currently working) for free.

Plus ive tested the site and it works in iBrowse 2.4 and hopefully AWeb. (I test all my sites in Amiga Browsers!) :-)

Hope that helps!

ANY program that uses AOL's AIM network should allow it. Its a feature built into the AIM system itself (though not really advertised). If you send an IM to a screenname that is in the right format, it treats it as an SMS message. Try it with your cellphone, send an IM to +18005551212 (where 800-555-1212 is your phone number). If you can get on AIM with an Amiga program you should be able to do this.

Any software that lets you send AIM messages will work. The AIM->SMS conversion happens on the server side. As far as your AIM software is concerned, its just another screenname.

That I dont know. It should work in Canada and some Carribean countries that have US style phone numbers. If it works in other countries, I'm not sure what the format would be. I would try variations of + followed by the full number including country code. Since the AOL servers are in the US, you might also try +011 followed by country code and full number.

You might find some info off the 2 links at the top of this:

Or just google "AIM and SMS"
