Hey mods, can you guys add tapatalk support? I do probably 75% of my forum reading throughout the day from my iPhone or iPad. It's a simple (free?) plugin that you can install in a directory on your server which will allow mobile devices to have a more native style interface to browse. Thanks!

Will you be bribing us for that one?

I have asked for this in a atleast two threads i think but nothing has happened i believe their is some way to access the forums via iphones but nothing on android, i refuse to join the cult called apple so i suppose i wil have to stick to a browser :(
Oh and please someone take these Dota games off me, Thanks.

I have no issue using forum on my GNex with any browser.

True but TapaTalk is very convenient and runs on many well known forums without the need to open extra content based on browser viewing, not to mention notifications on subscribed theads, PMs etc.
It's also not hard to implement in any forum.
Many Amiga forums like Amibay, EAB, a1k.org, Amigaportal.cz, AmigaHellas etc... have already implemented it.
Ofc it's ok for a.org not to do anything about it. It is just a proposal for something that tends to be standardized over time :)

"Those that can do."
Perhaps the owner of Amiga.org "can't"?

@esc
amiga.org is a dictatorship, do not hesitate.

These app requests drive me nuts when most devices I use have excellent browsers

Amiga.org is not a dictatorship.

Which is all fine and dandy but Amiga.org does not have a mobile website like most other sites seem to have these days.
-
Mobile version would be nice. I find myself more and more on other Amiga sites rather than A.org because of it.
And yes - my Android phone can view A.org just fine, it's just that a mobile or tapatalk version would be so much easier.

You pretty much sum up exactly where I'm coming with. I don't bother with a.org on my mobile devices because it's just more convenient to use tapatalk, so I stick to other forums.

motion seconded!
I use TT for AmiBay, EAB and RobotReviews and just luv it for my iPhone, it just makes forums so much nicer to use on a mobile device!

TapaTalk is on droid too (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quoord.tapatalkpro.activity&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5xdW9vcmQudGFwYXRhbGtwcm8uYWN0aXZpdHkiXQ..)

But not implemented here :(

Yeah, crying shame too. :(

I read EAB and AmiBay more because they DO have Tapatalk... A.org loses out without even knowing it...
-
How many people really want this? Raise your hands please.
-
Why don't you make a poll so to know the exact numbers instead of counting replies? :)

Unfortunately, forums with Tapatalk support tend to show a rather disruptive pop-up requester informing about support for the Tapatalk app when you use mobile devices. If you use restrictive browser privacy settings, the requester is shown rather frequently and extremely annoying. (I really do not get why there is no embedded banner instead which would be a whole lot less intrusive.)

Count me in. :)

I use the paid version and get no popups, and the fee is pretty minimal. Anyway, amiga.org won't be selling anything, since there is a free version of tapatalk, instead, people will have an option of using a free version of a 3rd party software or paying for something of their own accord. There will be no coercion on the part of amiga.org...
-
Apps like Tapatalk will make the forum poorer in the long term, with shorter messages typed on cellphones or tablets and will make nice features from the Amiga.org frontpage disappear such as the random pictures from the gallery, the "feed the kitten" link, news, etc.
If there is Tapatalk support, fine by me, but if there isn't i won't regret it.
-
With leading such a busy life with 2 kids etc i find tapatalk makes it so much easier to participate on the run - I save any big detailed posts for when I get a chance to use my Mac.
-
Raises hand, yes please.

Another option that can be done if the site owner doesnt want to use tapatalk because they cant have the ads on it, you can get a custom app made that only works with A.org using the tapatalk engine. This can be sold in the app stores for a couple of bucks and you still get a chance to make some money.
Look into it, or I can help you if you like.

I don't like Tapatalk or any other "app" per se. I find the entire concept entirely old fashioned and hackneyed, but Tapatalk is often the only solution for some places that aren't willing or technically able to build an auto sensing, native mobile site.
I like the way Reddit, The Verge, Digg, CNN, and virtually all other decent sites work. If I visit on my PC, it looks normal. If I visit on a mobile device, I get the same content, it's just presented in a mobile friendly fashion. No rocket science. No "apps" required. No silly scrolling with your finger every 1.2 seconds, no two fingers monkeying around zooming. It simply works, sees I'm on a mobile device then throws the proper version at me, easy peasy.
Around here, Tapatalk is about the best we can ask for, though. I find myself using A.org about 5% of what I did say 18 months ago. This is mainly because I've been working more and often my only devices on hand are mobile ones, and A.org is just god awful on smaller mobile devices. It's usable on an iPad, but pretty rough on a smartphone.
I'd love to see a better mobile experience here at A.org, as I fear it is only a matter of time before I simply stop visiting in favor of the other Amiga sites that already support mobile well.
There's various vbulletin modules available that might be even easier and more elegant than Tapatalk that could be used, I suppose.

Because of repeated requests I will add Tapatalk support very soon. The option will be available to not use it for those that hate it.
-
Outstanding, thank you :)
-
This is great news, Thanks

Much obliged!

Great news - thanks a bunch, will make life a lot more pleasant for us mobile guys.

This is very much appreciated, to better support "smartphone" amigans.

Thanks boss!

Any news on how far support for Tapatalk is progressing?
If you need help implementing it I'm sure quite a few of us here would be more than willing to assist. :)
-
Great news....let us know when Tapatalk support is enabled
-
Bump? Still no TT?
-
Heck - we can't even stay logged in! Then again, Tapatalk pop-ups are super annoying and they don't care. Just deal with it, or write your own proxy translator.
-
No idea what "Tapatalk" is, and don't care. I wouldn't use it just because it has a stupid name.
-
Its an app for smartphones that makes reading forums on a small screen much easier. A lot of forums support it these days inlcuding EAB
-
Tapatalk asks mobile users (or tablet users) to use it EVERY single time you open a forum website, even when you don't want to use it. I prefer the desktop version of forums on my tablet. But Tapatalk doesn't remember that I've said "NO" - it still asks EVERY single time. Annoying.

I've never had that issue with Tapatalk a single time, fwiw.

that can be disabled by removing the javascript part though when setting up, so it never prompts, but is available for those that want it.

There's a "leave me alone" check box that stops this.
