Tripitaka: I get that a lot! :)

So how are we to know if this hardware is really coming or not? I'd hate to not be a on some elusive mailing list and miss out like I did on the A608.

How do you know if it's really coming, short answer, you don't.  Not until you can put one in a shopping cart and give them your credit card.  I usually keep an eye on amigakit.com myself.

This sounds great - EXCEPT - you will likely need an upgraded PSU to go with that computer once you have the new CPU card installed.  Take it from someone who's had an A1200 with the otherwise excellent Microbiotics 030/50 + 32mb RAM - great card but you will have all sorts of weird, flaky problems without the upgraded PSU.  Which means you will likely have to 'violate' the connector from either an A600, A500 or A1200 existing PSU - the actual power generation can come from a modified PC one correctly wired to that connector.

I also had an accelerated 030/50 A600 for some time and same deal.

The A500 PSU reportedly has a bit more oomph than the stock A600 or A1200 PSU, but it's still not enough.

great that he's doing this!

I agree to that, I use an old A2000 power supply for my 1200

Really?  I'd always heard that the best (well, not best, but most recommended) solution was to use an A500 PSU...

Is this really not enough?
I think the A1200 PSU was 23-25Watts and the A500 is around 60Watts??

I'm OK with making a franken-PSU, but didn't think I'd need to as I have an A500 PSU.

You didn't want to change it because you haven't seen my franken-"stock" PSU, with 145 watts.
In the photos still wasn't the fan, which is very very silent... you don't notice at all.

I have two modified 350 watt PC PSU for my main A1200s ! From AmigaKIT, only thing that sucks is that their fan blows all the time .. :-S And ruins an otherwise quiet Amiga experience .. Btw, Anyone know if its safe to use an A1200 stock PSU for an A500 ? (only expanded with a 512KB ram and possibly external floppy ?)
