to all you game coders out there
i really find it frustrating after downloading some new game of aminet, being described as, for example: 'The best Tetris for WB!' and unarchiveing it, double clicking on a rather nice 3.5/3.9 style icon....
i then see the current window deactivate...
and i start to hear music!!!
ya know what? even when AOS4/amigaone(and clones, ie pegasos/morphos) is about to be released!
even in the year 2003!!!! people still cant write RTG compliant games!!!!
it really frustrates me! :-x
i wish, at minimum it would open a wb screen clone...
please programers! take advantage of the ASL requester, open a screen based on the users prefered screenmode, or just the monitor...
make sure your programs will be able to work on future amigas, if not existing ones! i dont have a monitor connected to my amiga graphics port! and nor should i have to these days! RTG has been around for at least a decade!
if you cant write fully system compliant games now, that take advantage of new OS features etc... youd better not even bother buying an AMIGAONE!
i dont care for AGA emulation, and, im sure you will find a lot of people in the same boat!
-take advantage of the ASL screen requestor
-dont bang the hardware!
-do lookinto modern(i.e. 3.1/3.5/3.9), programming interfaces/techniques!
-avoid using sprites/vsprites!!!!!
-do test your code on a range of configurations to make sure it dont crash!!!
