@Thomas Richter

This new version of layers.library is so far working fine with Birdie.
See attached screenshot, where I show nice OS4 like window borders with Birdie and then on the CLI I show that your new layers.library is doing its thing.

BTW, I couldnt extract your new rtg.library from the archive, due to bad crc. I downloaded several times both archives, but I still get the same result, layers.library gets extracted fine but rtg.library doesnt. :(

Thank you!

I just basically try them inside UAE + OS 3.1 + Visualprefs. This seems OK.
Thanks for your work.

NB: No error during extraction.

Layers.library 45.21 working great here so far, it was nice to be able to turn Birdie back on, I'd disabled it when it didn't work with the previous new layers.library.

I also was unsuccessful in extracting rtg.library from your split zip archive thingy. WinRAR couldn't put the two pieces back together again, and I'm not downloading and trying to figure out WinZip just for that. ;)

Now that I'm messing around with turning things on & off, turns out that my 4.x-like VisualPrefs gadgets really down my system. I'd always thought that was Birdie, doing that. Huh, might have to re-think my patches! ;)

Works fine here:

Linux: cat up.z01.zip up.zip > layers.zip

Windows: copy /b up.z01.zip + up.zip layers.zip
(not tested yet)

unzip complains a little bit about wrong offsets, but the extraction is successful.

Nope, still didn't work.  Good tip though, and for your first post, thanks!

Get a seek error trying to extract from the combined zip archive.  :(

Disregard my last, got it finally, just had to finagle WinRAR a bit. Thanks @crasbe!

Pumped it into my system via LoadResident, C:Version rtg.library went from 40.3992 to 40.4024. I guess the obvious questions now are:

- I didn't originally have an rtg.library in Libs: even though it was showing a version number. I guess it's in ROM?

- What are the changes/benefits of this new version? Sorry if I missed something obvious in this long thread. ;)

Thanks THoR! :)

No, it goes into LIBS:Picasso96. If you don't have P96 then you don't need the library in first place.

The suprise is a recompiled version from the sources, with all fixes applied. It is not exactly a recent version either. Just collecting dust...

It works (WinRAR 3.62), just rename up.z01.zip as up.z01 and then unzip up.zip.

layers.library is working fine now with Birdie on OS3.9+BB4 under WinUAE. Thanks ThoR for this fix.

1. Video overlays now works OK with layers.library 45.19 or 45.21 and rtg.library 40.4024 :)

2. Birdie with layers 45.21 works ok :)

3. Minimize the window AmiTradeCenter still suspend with layers 45.21. Program failed error #80000008

Ah, I didn't think to look there. Still kinda new to Amiga RTG. ;-)  Thx!

I didn't even get the program working in first place. It seems to require some MUI classes, but those are installed here. It just crashes on start, probably failing a dependency check of some obscure library. I guess if the author wasn't keeping care enough to write proper tests for dependencies and returning an error instead of crashing, I wonder why I should care so much to make it working... (-;

Ok. Half a dozend missing libraries later... The program runs right into a hit when I try to load it from the workbench, calling through a6 = NULL for still some missing code - I don't know what is wrong there.

It does work from the Shell, though, and then I don't actually notice a problem with it. I can minimize the window just fine, close it, open it, and I don't get a hit or a problem. Thus, hard to say what goes wrong, but given the overall stability of the program as I experienced it I wouldn't be surprised if something is wrong here....

You probably have broken NList.mcc class. It is notoriously buggy class but at that time it was the best available :p

As for crashing when deeps are missing... I know, it has never been tested with missing deps and it crashes when trying to close non-existing stuff. Broken resource tracking I would say...
