OS4 HW compatibility?
« on: November 15, 2013, 01:50:31 PM »
MorphOS has a very nice HW compatibility page: http://morphos-team.net/hardware

Is there a similar list somewhere on the net about what HW is supported by OS4? What I'd like to know in general is what graphic cards are supported, and in particular if Radeon 8500 is supported (accelerated 2D, 3D, proper overlay, etc), or what the support looks like for other R200 cards?
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

That is a silly question.
And I tried to dig up this information awhile ago.
I don't think there is a complete list.

I'm not sure how up to date this is, or how official it may be, but:-

http://hdrlab.org.nz/projects/amiga-os-4-projects/radeonhd-driver/radeonhd-driver-hardware-compatibility/

But I don't see any info about R200 cards there?

He can't go more than a couple days without trying to bait a flamewar of MoS vs OS4...  Take his posts with a grain of salt and a lot of patience, and this round will be over soon.

Its OK.
As long as the rest of you notice that that attitude is slowly dying.
Even dyed in the wool (blue wool) fanatics like takemehomegrandma and myself don't see anything wrong with a little more cooperation between the so called "camps".

OMFG! I asked a *simple* and general question about R200 compatibility in OS4, particularly about the Radeon 8500!

If no web page exists with this kind of info, maybe someone who possess knowledge about this matter may be kind enough to answer "manually" in this thread?

I am pretty sure its supported, but its an old chipset.
it is hard not to take this thread as a flamewar attempt.

ACube Systems has a nice list on their website called AmigaOS 4.1 Hardware Compatibility List:

http://www.acube-systems.biz/compatibility/compatibility_41.php

I like it. Here you'll find everything from audio devices to Ethernet controllers.
