You might want to state how much RAM is on the 68040 card.  It might help people decide.  :)
A2000, A3000, 2 x A1200T, A1200, A4000Tower & Mediator, CD32, VIC-20, C64, C128, C128D, PET 8032, Minimig & ARM, C-One, FPGA Arcade... and AmigaOne X1000.

Done! I wasn't 100% certain, but ShowConfig has just confirmed that it currently has 64meg of RAM :)

64MB?  Nice.  I have one in my A4000 and it is a great card.  Doesn't it work fine in the A3000 too?

How far behind an 060?  Can you quantify?

On programs, demos and games designed for 040 or lower cpus it is about 20% slower than a 060.
On 060 specific built apps (which there are not so many), it may be even slower, depending on the app.

Doesn't it work fine in the A3000 too?

Yes, it would appear so Darrin as it says at the Big Book Of Amiga Hardware:-

Quote
Connects To: CPU Fast Slot (A3000/A4000)

Processor:     040@40Mhz, 040@33Mhz, 040@28Mhz
FPU:     Internal
MMU:     Internal
Max Ram:     128MB
Ram Type:     4 x 72pin SIMM slots
I said "for the A4000" so that members would know that it wasn't for the A1200. But having said that, I've got this board for the A1200 Tower onto which A4000 CPU cards fit perfectly.......

So prehaps it could even work in an A1200 Tower too :)

In the very remote chance that you still have this in 2 months, I'd love to take that 040 off your hands :)

Congrats on the 3k, I have always been fond of the 3000.  I know you will enjoy it.

I don't think the 4000 version of the warp engine fits in a 3k desktop.  You will need the 3k version for that.

I would recommend the warp engine over the cyberstorm for a 040.  I have had both over the years, and it worked better for me.

Good luck!

It will fit with modifications to the drive sled (read: cutting metal.)  The vertical SIMMs are generally too tall, the 3000 version has angled SIMM sockets (and only two of them for 64MB max, at that. 4000 version supports 128MB.)

edit: also, the SIMM sockets stick out further on the 4000 version and may interfere with part of the case, I seem to recall this issue as well.
